Improved on some things since Origins but also went backwards on some too, kind of one step forward one step back syndrom. Combat was more enjoyable this time but tactics were still needed to succeed also, loved the art style of this one compared to Origins rather dated bland look with some great effects.
The story took some time to get going but picked up a lot in ACT2 with the Arishok involvement making this interesting and ACT3 is looking good, however companions were lacking this time round, didnt really connect to them in the way of ME or Origins.
Recycled maps were a poor idea and never going to go down well with anyone but boss fights were memorable this time round.
Hawk was a MASSIVE improvement on the silent Warden, good to have a character that you care about which helps a lot, but decent loot was hard to come by.
Overall pretty solid but just short of greatness similar to Origins really.

An average rating.
I did like this game. I really did. I was into the combat and kind of enjoyed Hawke somewhat. But they didn't make him believable. He didn't grow over time and neither did Kirkwall. I had no sense of time passing on, except to my housing conditions. By Act 3 I was really into it. I wanted to play and got submersed. But when it ended on such a bad cliffhanger, and so abruptly. I felt cheated. And all the minor issues such as a dialogue wheel which isn't an accurate portrayal of what they are going to say, copy and past dungeons, Kirkwall never changing. All the minor problems grated on me. I think it was really the anti-climatic, abrupt ending that made me dislike and feel a little disappointed.

loved the new voiced main, loved the battle system, loved the characters.
hated the 1 town system, hated the repeated dungeons, hated the bugs/glitch.
everything is great till the glitches occur, and of course who can not notice the repeated dungeons. heck i don't even mind not being able to change companion armors. but reusing dungeons? c'mon that's so me1. at least show the courtesy to hide the areas blocked off on the minimap, its misleading to see a path but in actuality it is blocked.
and 3 years is too short, since we have no big map to explore(like ferelden), i suggest... a dlc in the form of act 1.5, 2.5 to show us what happen in between the years instead of leaping every 3 years or so.

*The game is incomplete.
*Same maps used over and over.
*Game is much shorter than it's predecessor, even if you include all the possible side quest for your character I did it under 35 hours, on hard. Even got my ingedients and crafted a butt ton of Heroic Elixier things.
* Pointless quests, redundant quests, most of the quests are just there to consume time and make the game seem indepth.
* Character customization sucks. I went through the entire game with 2 different armors on my main character, almost all the other junk you find looks the same as the last piece of crap you found. Not to mention all that unique armor you find just becomes pointless and obsolete once you find better, since the Bioware decided to take out the feature to equip your party members...
* Constantly exploding bodies, more action based, strategy and tactics are less prominent here than Origins. In retrospect, the game requires less thinking and more button mashing.
* The new item and looting system fails. I find unique accessories all the time only to find some vanilla default ring in NPC inventories that do the SAME THING.
And that's just some of the bad things to DA2. I can write a book on how bad this game was. I don't see how all these review websites gave the game close to the same rating as Origins yet this game has a lot less to offer...

Beautifully dark and immersive. Definite improvement to brown/green Ferelden.
Gameplay/Combat 10/10
Being a mage feels incredible in this game. I love love LOVE the new combat system.
Storyline 10/10
Biggest plus. Finally a game that breaks out of the "Level one greenhorn develops into big hero & defeats a dragon" mold. This is a story of conflict, passion, politics and fate. The choices are as grey as it gets and there simply is NO "good" or "bad" way to play it. Incredible writing, gutwrenching drama, spiced with awesome comedy and romance. The imported consequences and cameos are additional jewels.
Characters 10/10
No more "Have five gifts." "Wanna have sex?" = "Romance" nonsense. Or "We had 3 conversations & You did something for me. I wuv you!" ala ME2 nonsense. ALL characters (Not just two) are fleshed out, involved and plot heavy. Brilliant Bioware, as always.
Soundtrack 7/10
ME2 beats DA2 here. As does DAO. The soundtrack isn't bad at all. But it's not outstanding to my ears.
Level design 5/10
The designs they DID make are gorgeous in detail and color. HOWEVER: There are way too few of them. I hope this will be fixed via Mods/Patches. The re-used areas were jarring and IMO not necessary.
Overall, this game has me enthralled. I cannot stop playing it. It's a gem.

I understand some of the criticisms applied, and agree with some of them, but at the end of the day they didnt really impact my enjoyment of the game. The story, companions, romances, quests were all as good, or better, than many other Bioware games.

DA:O and DA2 are rich on different things but all over i would give them both an 8 or 9 out of 10.

+ The new combat system. It doesn't get as boring as DA:O could get in the long run.
+ My character having a real voice.
+ The graphics are better, but there are some places Bioware has been VERY lazy.
+ I like the day/night difference.
+ No more random encounters on the road, unless they have a real purpose.
+ Much faster loading times.
+ I love the new qunari, they're awesome.
- The story was weak. Had no real clear goal.
- Act 1 was a pain.
- BEEEEEP
- Not able to speak with companions on the run.
- The new looks of the elves, they look like aliens. I'd never play one again if I was able to.
- The new looks of the darkspawn.
- The recycled caves and hideouts.
- Waves of useless trash enemies that you nearly one shot. Pointless.

I felt no connection to my Character, nor to my "Family". Varric and Isab. are pretty good.
The fighting a tad to hectic and "spawn me, Scotti".
Animation far better than DAO. Liked the finish moves in DAO. "Hint"
City did not feel like a City. Graphics, a part from some weird things better than DAO.
No sense in the game, for me, why I am doing all this. No real direction for a long time.
Dialog to me there is something missing. Can't explain what it is, tho.
Area Reuse.
I give at a 7.3/10. It's a Good/Ok game. But I am, well dissapointed.
Ratings like these always put smile on my face. I would like to know how did you calculate that addictional 0.3
Because I mist other bits ("negativ"), tho I deducted another 0.2. I know, lazy.

half the game was done in detail the other half was not finished
i like the combat (one of the best) with the interactions betwin different skills and spells from different classes (i hated the boring combat of DAO); DA2 combat makes me feel powerfull and tought in DAO i didn't feel that
i like the way Hawkes personality evolvs based on what you choose from the dialogue wheel (use sarcastic more Hawke will be sarcastic in cut scenes)
i like the different type of story used here ( i liked DAO story too - one of the best ever)
i like the characters
i don't like the total lack of exploration feeling
dont' like reused caves and maps
game was not finished, if bioware took at least another 6 months this game would've been a mind blowing experience...and thats why the frustration over it
i hope bioware don't relese ME3 unfinished, its scares me now when i read that they wanna relese ME 3 this year
another thing ..i don't like that if you play a mage Hawke the walkthrough feel unrealistc ...i use spells in broad daylight in front of ppl and templars and noone seems to care ( 1 ex. is the very first fight when Hawke arrives to Kirkwall ...i fireball the thugs in front of the guard captain and he doesent notice that i 'm a mage in a city that fears them so much and keeps them locked in a tower ) and as mage that happens alot

I wanted to like it so bad. I anticipated it for a long time. But in hindsight, the time I had to wait wasn't nearly long as usual for a game and that's probably the problem. Nearly everything about the game seems rushed, sloppy, or a shadow of its original self. And the PC release feels particularly insulting. Maybe the 'fast-paced' combat works better for consoles, but to me it's a travesty and the tactics are truly gone for the most part. Obviously the gameplay of Origins was superb but what truly kept me hooked to it was the wonderful storylines, characters, and humor. Very little of that magic to be had here.
I had actually started collecting toys, books, etc... in anticipation that this could be a long-lived franchise. But it looks like it ended with Origins.
I have to say this pretty much sums it up for me too :0(

1 : No toolset given with it. Just with this little one thing, you would have 50% less " agressiv " thread & post. Why ? Because modding help the community to have the game fit to their visions and thus, improving greatly the game experience.
2 : Where did the rpg gone ? All in all, it became a hack n slash with stats. The Role Play part was mainly fueled by the deepth of the univers, the deepth of the relationship with your companions, the visible changes afters your choices. All of it have been reduced/suppress in da2. The town stay strictly the same no matter what. Our choices have much less impact on the end. We can't talk to our companion at will, They are too straight minded and without surprises. I have hoped for an even more developped relationship with the companion, so i've been really decive to saw how it had been reduce.
3 : Rushed. Nothing to explain further here.

This is something I never understood... I mean, Kirkwall is mostly brown/beige. Ferelden looked a lot more varied in it's colors. Or is it just the fact that the colors were generally darker and somewhat more realistic in Ferelden?

Although the story was better in the first ( I didnt finish but read about will explain) it wasnt enough for me to continue through the game. Whereas DA2 story so far (Im still on Act 1) is a little sparse not a whole lotta of detail but that could be a good thing. What blows away my mind in DA2 is that the control and game scheme compared to DAO is phenominally better than the original. The graphics still look like PC graphics, but the sound is awesome I am absorbed into the game through the sound ( I play with Turtlebeaches on). Overall I think this game is great for an intro to the series point for gamers. If you play the original it might seem bland, but you have to realize a fact. The world isnt comprised of hardcore RPG players who want to spend endless hours in one area searching for a rare item. It is of the casual gamer and I think Bioware did a great job making this game acceptable to that crowd. Since it takes $60 million to make a game, they definitely need their profit.

Story Good, Gameplay Bad.
The good news is I can use a gaming website's DA2 review score as a litmus test for if their reviewers are any good.
