Before you go off on wanting me dead I should tell you I have 500+ Fire resistance ;)

I liked Hawke a lot more than I liked my Orgins character.  My origins Character felt like an empty shell compared to Hawke.  Don't get me wrong I loved Origins (I got it on Xbox 360 before deciding that games are meant for PC, so I never registered it) but in Origins I felt like I was telling my Companions stories and not my own. I felt like Alistair had more personality than my character ever could.  It may be because there Voice with Hawke and that he had a defined name--which helps.

Also the story wasn't  a total flop.  Did the end kinda suck--yes. However in my opinion Hawke's attitude and personality never changed.  I always picked the option to be the smart ass ******. When comparing Hawke to my Blood Mage/Arcane Warrior in origins I felt like it wasn't about me but rather it was about the shell I created. In this I felt like Hawke.  I felt like Hawke was me lol.

err- What Say you?! *Viggo voice*

The Warden was just some guy who never spoke or anything. Hawke is a human being. I like Hawke more.

I like Hawke at least as much as the Warden. The female Hawke anyway.

I liked them both... differently, I suppose. My Wardens always felt like a part of me, whereas Hawke felt more like a buddy.

I love them both equally for different reasons. The Warden I was able to project alot onto her, in particular my canon Dalish Warden. This allowed that personal connection that is difficult to glean from a none voiced protagonist.

Hawke was a wee bit different in that we have her life played in front of us, her loss of family and that journey from so  nothing to something. The voice aids in that certainly. Her was quite an emotional story. So tragic. T_T

The same here, except that I only play console games.

I like smartass fem-mage Hawke better than Elissa Cousland, I think, The Warden just didn't really seem to do much other than blow stuff up.

I found I could internalize and roleplay my Warden a little better.

I found I connected to my Hawke a lot more as a character.

It's a trade-off, but despite initial doubts, I preferred DA2's way. Though in DA3, I'd love more options for the character. Different races, please ;_;

I like Hawke better than the Warden too. Hawke is a just better character to me and I feel much more attached to him/her, but of course I do still feel attached to the Warden also. Hawke's voice really adds to his/her character as well, where as the Warden just stays as a mute in conversations. One of the best examples I saw is with Quentin and the blood trail, listening to my F.Hawke's despair as I went further really made it more emotional and realistic.

Maybe you have no imagination, and are probably rather shallow?

I like the Warden better, he was the first to start it off and I'am one that hates to take out a pc for some new guy but Hawke is a good character, I think we know why Hawke was more up alot of peoples alley, the voice over did it and for me it makes it better, now they just need to voice the Warden. They will have to if they bring him back with Hawke, seeing as how DA2 ended.......they are both being looked for. I would love a voiced Warden. I have to say I like both but the Warden is my pick.

This says it all!  The Warden felt the same for me.

It's not really a fair comparison though.  Hawke is fully voiced while the Warden just spouted a few one liners during battles.  But yeah I agree.  Hawke ftw.

Exactly this game did have connection for your main char...the lack of voice losing the Cousland family was just kinda...awww oh well...losing Leandra I had to take a break...also considering I lost both siblings to death so I lost everyone...it was sad. But yea' some people like the no voice old school rpg, and some people liked the voiced companion. I personally like the voiced companion sure it limits some things, but i'm sure a day will come when bioware makes a game with a voice protag that can be human elf or dwarf...that day will own all

You are not alone. But the reason is simple, for me. I love to play a voiced character - and Jo Wyatt did a fine job.

I like both in different ways. I'm only on my 1st Hakwe. I've had 3 Wardens complete the game (2 of whom did Awakening too) and I liked them but I think I made a mistake in having 2 of them make similar decisions - I wanted to correctthe errors I made the 1st time when I made decisions to import for DAIi good character so I did some repetetive stuff. I still connected to both of them though, "nd character was hard to connect to because he started off as evil - I struggled to make him purely evil in the end and found a connection with him being more "human." I will have to try being purely evil on both games - my Hawke is supposed to bebad but I keep trying to please the companiunos and I ended up being pro-mages so I could romance Anders (using Bethany as the excuse). Another time I will be more careful with my choices.

Hawke is a character I have no full control of. I thought, I'd hate that, but oddly enough I really like her. I also like her voice acting as it fits my first Hawke to a tee. I prefer her to my Wardens.

Yeah Bioware at least proved they CAN write a touching scene involving the death of a close NPC after the atrociously written sibling death during the intro. It was well set up with the first half of the quest too, then you hear nothing about it for a while then it comes back to it.

Anyway, yeah I enjoyed Hawke more I think. My Warden was totally overshadowed by Alistair and Morrigan's fantastic personalities.

Hawke is likeable character yes. But still still I also liked Warden.

If I could decide which main character would be in da3 it would be Warden. It is quite amazing how much good LI in game can affect ones opinion. That said it wouldn't even be realistic to hope Warden to be in da3, because of ends in both Witch Hunt dlc and DA2.

I agree. Hawke felt like a real character, and I felt myself caring about him a lot more than I did the warden. The addition of the family was a good move IMO. I was genuinely angered, saddened, and otherwise affected by the things that happened to them throughout the game. Bioware did an excellent job with the writing and voice acting of Hawke, and I for one hope this isn't the last we see of the character.
