Has anyone tested and got a list of what you need to do to have Isabela bring the relic back at the end of Act 2? Been hearing conflicting stuff.

According to the guide, over 50% friendship/rivalry and completed her Questioning Beliefs conversation before doing To Catch a Thief. Also promise to help her before helping Aveline when they are both in Hawk's Home.

The guide is sort of full of ****, though. It also says that Fenris won't stay with you in the ending with full rivalry (yes he will) and quite a few other things. Not sure that I trust this.

I hate the entire Isabella conundrum. I just don't see how there is any advantage at all to helping one woman who is a thief with questionable ideals and motives. helping her over hundreds/thousands dead in a battle with the Qunari, and also the ramifications between Tevinter and the qunari overall.

It's insane to side with Isabella unless you loves her or are just that ruthless.

That said I missed having a great rogue in my party. I look forward to hearing solutions so she can return.

Actually in the Companion Analysis part, its says "Unless you complete his companion quest, reach 100% friendship or rivalry and complete his final-stage relationship conversation, Fenris will abandon the party after the destruction of the Chantry if you support Orsino."

In my own experience the guide has only misled me on some friendship/rivalry increase decisions, so I won't call it complete bull.=]

Do her personal quests. Pander relentlessly to her. Side with her whenever possible. I think.

Spoiler

I built up my friendship with Fenris but did not initiate a romance with him.

At the last mission he sides with the Templars but when you encounter Meridith a second time and he's with her just question him about his view on slavery. At which point he sided with me even though I was helping the mages.

Has anyone achieved full rivalry with Isabela? I'm trying to keep her from being my friend to avoid that bug, but I still want romance. Will she show up at your house even if you may not have flirted with her? It was going to give me +25 friend so I didnt... But she seems like the type to go for casual sex soo... am I right?

You need a certain amount of either friendship or rivalry, finish all her quests. And promise to give the qunari book to her and not to the qunari.

Or if you're optimistic and think that you can work things out with the Qunari even then. ;) Which I guess is insane, but hey, what are friends for?

OP: The others have pretty much explained what to do. Be sure to get at least 50% Friendship/Rivalry, clear out her Questioning Beliefs quests, and agree to help her first before Aveline. I'm not sure if telling her you'll give her the book factors into it (haven't tried it yet), but just to be on the safe side, do that.

Ive had:
- full friendship 100%
- finished her personal quest
- gave her a gift (ship in a bottle)
- told her I'd help her before Aveline at the end of Act II
- told her she could keep the relic as her life depended on it, and I'll deal with the qunari myself

She always comes back if you do that. But I'm not sure if her friendship has to be 100 for that, so I can't promise on that

You have to have more than 50, probably 75 or 100, not sure. I know I had more than half on Rivalry and she didn't come back. She came back when I had full 100 friendship with her.

Lol, I can just imagine the conversation:
Isabela: "How come you don't wanna be my friend?"
Hawke: "Erm... I'm trying to avoid catching a bug..."
isabela: "A bug?? Had you said an itch, I could understand, but a BUG? I'm so very, very hurt"

I always tell her the book goes to the Qunari, and she still shows up.

On a side note
The whole point to Isabela is that you must treat her differently to how everyone else treats her. trust her and do not call her backstabbing. She is fiercely loyal till the end and even joins the final battle if shes not in the party. (I didn't romance her)

Fenris does join as well. Although I romanced him and had full rivalry and he never even thought about betraying when I joined mages. He just says he wont abandon you.

So yes, the guide is totally wrong. Just do everything to help your companions and they stay with you till the end.

I had more than 50% friendship, chose to do Isabella's quest first and told her the book must be returned to the Qunari. So she disappeared for good. I am just saying I hope I can kill her in DA3. Or sooner.

That's where you went wrong, you have to tell she can keep the book.

Me too. To make things worse I hadn´t used her at all as I play as a DD Rogue, so she´s redundant. I took her to get the book and wasn´t impressed at all with how weak she was. So much for wearing a shirt into battle. Would rather have handed her over and let the Arishok go than "dueling" him (how did that pass playtesting?).

Or you're just not very fond of Qunari - at least two of my four hawkes would've sided with Mother petrice if possible :o

I also had Isabella come back even though I told her averting war with the Qunari was more important.

For once I have to agree. Typically I accept the fact that there are multiple ways to view a situation, but Isabela's seems so simple. People have just up and left and escaped their employers for far less, yet she doesn't even consider the option. She really would rather see an entire city burn, possibly a nation plunged into war, than return that one book of hers. Her fears should have been brought out more, because as it is it really makes her seem incredibly self-centered to the point of being downright evil for allowing things to happen the way they do. I'm hoping for someone to convince me otherwise though.

Um I'm confused now, when you guys say 'before' Aveline do you just mean the climax quest at the end of Act 2 or are you talking about Aveline at the beginning of Act 2?
