Spoiler

I built up my friendship with Fenris but did not initiate a romance with him.

At the last mission he sides with the Templars but when you encounter Meridith a second time and he's with her just question him about his view on slavery. At which point he sided with me even though I was helping the mages.

Are you talking about a female Hawke, because you don't need to initiate a romance with him at all to get 100% friendship.

OP: The others have pretty much explained what to do. Be sure to get at least 50% Friendship/Rivalry, clear out her Questioning Beliefs quests, and agree to help her first before Aveline.

Um I'm confused now, when you guys say 'before' Aveline do you just mean the climax quest at the end of Act 2 or are you talking about Aveline at the beginning of Act 2?

Just at the end when you decide if helping aveline or isabela first.

You don't need to have Isabella at 100% friendship. Mine was about 75%, I did her quest before Aveline and told her she could keep the book. She came back and handed the book to the Arishok in the final battle of Act 2.

I was a little confused at the beginning of Act 3 though. Apparently you need to chat with her at the Hanged Man before you can add her to your party for Act 3.

I betrayed the **** to the Qunari, i'm betting Isabela spreads her legs and gives a 24/7 access to the Qunari for freedom.

I had more than 50% friendship, chose to do Isabella's quest first and told her the book must be returned to the Qunari. So she disappeared for good. I am just saying I hope I can kill her in DA3. Or sooner.

That's where you went wrong, you have to tell she can keep the book.

That would have meant I'd have to lie to her which I wasn't gonna do. She is a **** and I was nicer to her than I wanted anyway.

No you don't.

To get her to come back you do.

No, you don't.  Well, unless I had a bug.

I also had Isabella come back even though I told her averting war with the Qunari was more important.

I think 50% friendship is incorrect. Must be higher. Much higher probably.

I hate the entire Isabella conundrum. I just don't see how there is any advantage at all to helping one woman who is a thief with questionable ideals and motives. helping her over hundreds/thousands dead in a battle with the Qunari, and also the ramifications between Tevinter and the qunari overall.

It's insane to side with Isabella unless you loves her or are just that ruthless.

Or you just plain don't like the Qunari.  After I saw what they did to their mages I wasn't that keen on helping them out, and I was under the (correct) opinion that they were looking for an excuse to take over the city anyway, book or no.  Given Isabela probably shouldn't have taken it in the first place, but by that point I'm pretty sure having it or not didn't really matter.  My only thing was I couldn't reason with her.  I wish I could have asked her if I could give it back, and then her and me would have gone and tracked down whats-his-name and taken care of it ourselves later.  That was kind of lazy writing in my opinion, but if she still wanted the book because she was worried about dying I would have let her have it.

this thread is to get Isabella to come back.. i didn't even know about all the twists with Isabella since I remain spoiler free but in my playthru she did come back with the book

however I decided to let the Qunari take her... it was a vicious scene and im wondering if anyone else chose the same path? (Let the Qunari take her with them)

........what happens then after? is she gone for good? or..? anyone do that playthru?

Is there a possible Isabella bug? I'm pretty sure I had her at 75% when I started her last quest, enter the the foundry, she runs off, I find a note on a Quanari that she has left. She did not return during final act2 scene. Not sure where I went wrong.

In two play-throughs now I have had her at more than 75% friendship, done her quest, given her the bottled ship and helped out her before Aveline. In the first one, I told her she could have the book and, in the second one, I told her she couldn't have it. She didn't show up at the final scene in either one...I didn't even know that was possible until I saw this thread.

I was under the impression you had to romance her for her to come back.  I had in my first play through and she came back.  After that you have to start romancing her again in third act if you want to continue a romance.

I believe she's gone for good under that circumstance.  I didn't do it but I'm pretty sure she is.  I believe she's even gone for good if she doesn't return prior to the fight with the Arishok.  And now that you mentioned how viscious it is I have to look it up on Youtube.  I can't bring myself to do it in the game.

Well, just to update, I missed her "questioning beliefs" talk, that is why she didn't come back at end of act 2. This must be done before you start her personnel quest. I practically had to replay act 2, but it was worth it. I love her character.

I did all her quests, I was nice on her cca 70% friendship - but I didn't pick up "flirt answers" - I got her a book and she still didn't come back, weird. That she didn't come back in act2 doesn't matter but will she come in act3?

if she didn't come back in act 2, she won't come back at all.

The requirements for her to return are actually just completing her Questioning Beliefs quest in Act 2. This requires 50% rivalry or friendship, and you must do it before completing her Act 2 companion quest "To Catch a Thief" (which you must choose to do... if you choose Aveline, you won't undertake it). You do not need to romance her, nor be friends with her, but romancing her can give +35 friendship so it is an easier way to do it.

Further questions are answered in the Isabela FAQ, handily linked to in my sig.

I also had Isabela come back after telling her to return the book at the Qunari.  I don't know how high friendship has to be.  Mine was 15 points short of maxed.  I'm sure you don't need quite that much, but it was sufficient.  :wizard:

That's a shame, but are you sure? On one playthrough (which I haven't finished yet) she betrayed me and didn't return, leaving me to fight the Arishok, but her picture on the party selection screen is still there, albeit greyed out. I took this to mean that she would still return, because the dead companions or companions who have permanently left are gone from the screen. It is probably best for her if she doesn't return though...

I never let them take her.  Not because of anything to do with her, I refuse to give those cowardly murdering savages anything except a swift death.  If there was an option to initate combat by igniting the book with a fire spell, I'd do it every time.

Yes. If she does not return in act 2, she's gone for good.

Cant remember if this is already linked to this topic but I thought I'd share this awesome guide for Isabela: http://social.biowar...394/blog/17005/

It tells you specifically what to do to get rivalry & friendship points. Posted Image
