I have intel core 2 quad at 2.83ghz

and a gts 450 with 1 gb ddr5

Can this comp not run the game on high settings for graphics? It does but its just really choppy even during just walking around.

Check here http://social.biowar...8/index/6265850 for some ideas to check out with the various settings with choppy graphics or gameplay.

There have been problems with Geforce drivers lately; perhaps that is part of the problem here.

I think he implies that you should rollback/try an older driver. I find the 197 series fine for DAO, haven't tried it with the 26x series.

The fact is that "some" Geforce drivers in the mix from roughly two years ago forward certainly do work with the 8n00 and 9n00 cards in DAO, but the quick fix is rolling back to almost any 19x.xx driver (unless the OS is Windows 7, in which case, the right one is the oldest Win 7 driver you can locate).

ok, went on nvidias site and i am downloading the earliest driver i can find for w7. But..i guess my question was...should i have no problem running this game on max settings with my comp? i have win7 64 bit, 4gb ram, gts 450 5gb ddr5, and a 2.83 ghz quad.

I had a core 2 duo 2.2ghz/ 2gb ram / 8800GT 512mb / XP 32-bit - and played Origins at max with no problems.

I also replayed it last month with a new core i5 3.2ghz / 4gb ram / 570 / 7 64-bit and latest not-beta nvidia drivers, still no problems.

was it as smooth as if the settings were low? also did you have it on 1080p? I have my resolution at 1080p, could that be why its not that smooth?

You need to change your resolution, the GTS 450 is not that powerful of a card.

It may be more powerful than an 8800gt, but not by much. I also believe that DA:O has less problems running on windows XP than windows 7. Try the game at a lower resolution and see how it works. You can't really compare different games, they are running off of different engines. Try running Metro2033 and see what you get...:)

Compared to the (G80) 8800 GT, it has half of the memory bandwidth, so it is still a medium card, merely a very fast one.  For very high resolutions and to actually put big amounts of VRAM into use, as for the High Resolution Pack in DA2, you need the 256 bit memory bandwidth (and upward) offered by High End cards.
