Ok, sometime this week I’m going to try to get BG2 from GOG.com. I assume this version is the latest and doesn’t need patched. I also assume I can figure out how to install it after I download it. Using Vista I know not to install it to the Program Files directory. Any help or suggestions here would be appreciated.
I remember playing BG2 many years ago. I did use ShadowKeeper to mod the player stats. As much as I love hitting re-roll over and over again, it just got old eventually. I found and downloaded ShadowKeeper. I assume it still works the way it did back when (again if not please let me know).
I also added some custom portraits. I’m not sure I’ll do that this time around though.
One this I most definitely remember though is that I added Alora to my BG2 party by starting a single-player/multi-player game which added her to one of the starting cages. I used the same portrait from BG1 (which if I recall correctly comes with BG2), I used ShadowKeeper to give her the exact stats from BG1 (even the terrible STR) and I added her sound set from BG1 (which I had downloaded from File Planet maybe?). I was wondering if anyone could help me in getting Alora back in the game. I know it was a process and I’ve been out of the game for a very long time now.
I swear if I can hear “happy, happy, joy, joy” just once I’d cry for joy myself.

gog games come fully patched.
I don't use Vista (no one should, imo), so no idea how to install it under Vista.
SK works the same way as in the past.

If ur not sure it will work - as long as the images are 110x170 for large and 38x60 for small and they are bitmap (.bmp) it'll be all fine, although on one occation i think size of the image files also affects this - large images seemed to fail ones.

Im still trying to find alora. Can't find her in (place of recruitment)
can't say the place she is that i want to find because of spoiler zone... but still can't find it - hopefully u know what i mean.

If you're referring to the BG2 Alora mod, she's upstairs in the place of recruitment. If she's not there, something must have gone wrong when installing the mod.

I loved her in BG1, but you got her so late in the game it was hard to use her as you probibally already had a thief built up. Adding her to BG2 was great as it allowed me to avoid having to use a certain other thief...

If you're ever going to replay BG1, you might want to install SCS. That has a component that places several NPC's in more accessible locations, including Alora. To use SCS you will need either Tutu or Baldurs Gate Trilogy, though.

Yeah, shes has all her points in pick pocket and open locks - don't rely on her to disarm traps in that case...

So far I'm loving it. I'm just about to wrap up the first level of the starting dungeon. I just opened the door to the elemental plane of Air. I think I fight some Djinn in here or something.
Getting used to the controls again. I keep forgeting to have Imonen to check for traps ... stupid girl.
