My female character decidedly is not pleased being called "serrah" (sirra, sir-based, aka sire, aka male).
It's rough enough I'm called "hawke". Hawk and wolf, second-rate predatory animals. Give me an eagle and a grizzly any day.

Ser, although obviously based off sir, is not gender specific in the world of DA. Even in the real world, sir is sometimes officially used for female authority figures

Now I want to name myself Connor. Just so Varric can call his tale 'The Serah Connor Chronicles.'
Fits in well with the title of his other books.
Thats awesome. On a sorta related note, I loved that show. I wish they would kept it on the air. As far as canon goes, they could have just gone with the "alternate timeline" angle. *sigh* I hate Fox, how many amazing shows have they killed...I've lost track...

This is so ingenious because it is a made up phrase to begin with, so why not change the meaning BioWare gave it. This brings out the structuralist in me. I'm definitely doing this for my next playthrough.

Hi.

Drunking guy in a tavern leans over and slurs, "I once met the Champion of Kirkwall!" to a tavern wench who turns around and replays,"oh yeah, what did you call him?". The Drunken guy hickups as he replies, "Bob".
Hail Bob!
I should have named the drunk, Tony.
On a side note I should get "Serah" defined. I'd like to know what they're calling me.

Serah is a honorific, like someone calling you Mister or Miss, but gender neutral.

I named my second character Bianca, so Varric could be constantly telling me what a minx I am

Yeah, whats the point of having Hawke as the main characters name. Most of the time they call him 'Serah' or 'Messure'. Then later in the game 'Champion'. At least in ME everyone calls Commander Shepard, Shepard. or Commander. I felt like naming my character 'Serah'. So believe me when I say your not the only one who thought about it or did it haha. I have two male Hawkes right now. My first is named Ryan. My second is named Darius 'cause hes black.

My real name is Sarah, so my boyfriend assumed I would name my character such. He was mighty impressed when he stood over my shoulder and watched me play once, and one of the other characters called me "serah". Until I told him that it was a form of address, not revolutionary voice synth technology
