Kinda hard to do, since there is only the ONE Arishok. If your chracter starts out as Arishok there is nohwere to go, you are already the Qunari Commander in Chief

There is a whole Thedas to bring into the way of the Qun.

I sure hope it's not Orlais at the very least. I find every Orlesian (barring Leliana) in the series to be absolutely insufferable. Even worse if the MC is forced to be one. How revolting.

I agree. There are some who propose Orlais instead, but I firmly believe that Tevinter will be featured prominently since it's the single most important nation in the history of Thedas, and has the deepest and strongest ties to the Blight, the Old Gods, the Maker, and everything.

I imagine a 3-way struggle between the crumbling Orlesian Chantry, the resurging Tevinter Imperium, and the long-prepared Qunari. Victory on every side will be possible.

You will have the choice to play either as either a Tevinter Magister (Mage only), a Qunari Arishok (Warrior/Rogue only), or an Orlesian noble/Chantry leader (all three classes available). Your goal is to reunite Thedas by whatever means possible. Both Hawke and Warden are NPCs, but you'll have the chance to convince them to join your side.

That would be a pretty awesome undertaking...but my Warden and Hawke would never side with Tevinter or the Qunari. Ever. :P

My Hawke would gladly convert to the Qun were it now for how the Qunari abuse their mages.

My Warden is City Elf and wants to kill everyone.

I was talking more more about character progression :P
stories always begin with the hero at the bottom and working his way up to importance, plus it would be rather silly if you start as level one and are already the top of the Qunari military heap.

I would like a game where you start as a Qunari recruit fresh out of training and have to work p the ranks and eventually become Arishok howeverB)

My Hawke respects the Qunari, but he is a mage so him joining them is unlikely at best.

My Human Noble Warden on the other hand often thought that Sten was the only companion talking any sense. And if not for his deep love of an Apostate and penchent for the ocational bit of theft and unlawfull entry would probably sign up with the Qunari. Certainty and strict regimented order are better wepons againt the Darkspawn than the b****ing most of Thedas does in his mind

I would like DA3 to be a open area over all of Thedas, Including the Qunari Islands but I guess it's false hope. At least I'll get the feeling I want with Skyrim.

OR maybe a world traveling adventure with varring backgrounds and not endless repeats of the same damn buildings.

I like this idea.

If they're new characters perhaps the origin of one will be in Orlais, one in Tevinter and one somewhere else (I'm partial to Rivain, as elves are treated the best there, it seems.) And the final part of the game culminates somewhere in the middle.

I honestly don't know what's going to happen, DA2 is full of setups and apparent foreshadowing. All of which is unknown. Personally, I'd feel foolish making guesses, although Tevinter seems most probable.

I just hope we can make a lot of decisions, namely bloodily carving a place for the Elves (perhaps that uncharted area in the far western part of the Anderfells), reinstating Tevinter rule over all of Thedas while dealing with the Qunari.

Or helping the Qunari. Absolutely love what the Qunari are attempting to do. In my opinion, they make the most sense out of everyone. Anaan Essam Qun! They're the only ones who know how to handle their mages.

I don't think playing as a regular Qunari is feasible, especially in a game where choice (or, the illusion of it in DA2's case) is so important. There would be no deviating from command, no time-wasting sidequests, none of that RPG stuff, you just do what the chain of command tells you to do. I suppose if you were part of the Beresaad or Tal'Vashoth, you'd have a little more autonomy. And as for become Arishok? We don't even know if Qunari can advance in rank like in other militaries. From what we've learned of Qunari culture, once the Tamassran have decided you're good at, you're there for life. For example, a sten is a sten, and he will always be a sten.

I'd be interested in Orlais, but given the new political situation... Tevinter sounds right. I imagine with the Circles breaking, Tevinter would want to tap into all that to expand their empire (sort of like how the power of Rome goes up and down). That would lead to massive conflict with the Orlesian Divine, firstly, and with the nations Tevinter tries to expand into. Secondly, the qunari may try to take advantage of that distraction to convert and to expand.

I also really want to see a qunari chick. The concept art was awesome. ;o;

The other place where things sort-of-happen is Antiva, but that's really just as far as the Crows go. Not much to do unless they want to change the politics there too. Anderfels, possibly... but again, kind of dull there at the moment, Wardens aside.

Exactly what I was about to say. :-)

The first thing I thought when I met the Arishok was "Geesh, I wish I could be like him!" My Lady Hawke has a huge fangirl crush on the Arishok. When he said "You are worth killing personally." My Hawke was like "SQUEEEEEEEE! Can you sign my chestplate before we fight to the death pweaaaaase?"

I can almost guarantee the game will take place in Orlais. It makes sense since one of the home bases of the Chantry is there, and also Sandal and his dad that starts with a B whose name escapes me atm mentioned that they are going there. They have been our personal merchant/enchanter duo since DA:O and it is safe to assume that the comment they made is trying to foreshadow we go to Orlais next.

Although, the Tevinter Imperium would be super cool as well; since I don't know a ton about it. Either would be an excellent setting IMO.

I just felt that after DA2 it will take place in Orlais based on how many NPCs talk about it and stuff. But who knows.

I don't think that was ever explicitly stated. Your ROLE in life is decided by the Tamassran when you turn 12, but I highly doubt your RANK (Sten, Arishok) is. Because it would just be awkward for a kid to be made the leader of the army without any experience whatsoever. Qunari are overtly practical, not stupid.

Were there a lot of NPCs talking about Kirkwall/The Free Marches in DA:O? :-)

The reason Orlais doesn't make sense as the setting of DA3 is simply because it is the HQ of the Chantry... What mage is his/her right mind would stay in Orlais? It would make as much sense as a mage staying in Kirkwall with its legion of Templars.

The Chantry has a long history of trying to invade the Tevinter using Exalted Marches and I bet that's what's going to happen in DA3. An Exalted March gets called on the Tevinter and we have to pick sides or find some sort of middle ground.

I just don't see anything worth while happening in Orlais it would just be another heavily controled Templar area like Kirkwall would be and to believe that Mages in any large number decided to stay and fight in that country would make no sense at all.

Yes but I'm a dumb girl and I've had to listen to how pretty Val Royeaux is for two games in a row. I can't handle it anymore. Bring on Paris.

Tevinter or Orlais. Power-mad blood mages or backstabbing nobles! Yes please.

But also Rivain. No Chantry! No Alienages! Seers who encourage demonic possession! Qunari everywhere! Isabela! I would SO love to go there.

Let me give you a run down on Orlais. Its going to have a lot of really big amazing looking towers and buildings that were built by Tevinter a long time ago just like every other cool thing in DA that has been build by the Tevinter. (Ostagar, Tower Drak, The Gallow, ect)

Haven't you people had enough of chantry controled contries whose great towers and buildings were built by the bad **** country of the Tevinter?

Agreed about  Rivain. The place seems like an insane to visit, too bad the DA2 story really doesn't have anything to do with  Rivain, so I doubt we visit it in DA3.
