a new PC or DA:O? Currently I have an AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.21ghz, 2gig Ram, and I can't figure out how to look at what sort of graphics card we have. We had upgraded it to play Oblivion though. My main concern is the processor. Do I need a new PC to play DA:O? Or will these specs suffice. Thanks for any info. Sorry for being such a noob. :)

start > run > type 'dxdiag' (without the quotes)

or in windows vista / 7 start > in the search bar at the bottom type 'dxdiag'

that should tell you your full computer specs including your graphics.

that's a fairly old processor, but it ought to run the game... try googling CPU-Z and run that.. it will give you more complete specs including the graphics card information, which you can post here to better help us help you

yeah it should work, Dragon age actually has fairly low specs for a modern game anyway. You have a fairly old processor but I don't think it would have any trouble.

Well i'm sure he'll be able to play the game, but not at very high graphic setting.

You might want to consider upgrading that graphics card... 8600s aren't bad but you've only got 256mb of on-board RAM and Dragon Age will run a lot better with more GPU RAM

Thats true but the minimum GPU ram for DA:O is 128mb which is nothing really. But I would recommend an upgrade as well if your willing to cash out for it.

Heh, it's unfortunate but I and several other guys (I'm looking at YOU, Gorath) feel that they severely understated the minimum GPU requirements for the game. It will run reasonably on sub-spec CPU's with some tweaking but the graphics card minimums are utter garbage.

Really! In which sense? That they wouldn't work on those old cards at all, or they will look like crysis's baby despite it?

They look like the lovechild of Crysis and an early 8-bit nintendo game...
