Well I stuck with Merill till the end ... VERY bitter end ... *gosh* ... keeper dead - all dalish elves dead ... *YIKES* ...
Now she's back at my house and happy as if nothing ever happened ... little strange if you ask me ... I continued playing till the end but that disaster never came up in any discussion...

Bugged actually. It makes her post quest talk appear at the beginning of Act 3. And it seems to presume that just Marethari died as it doesn't really have any info to go off of.
It is a known bug though. David Gaider said he heard his tech guys talking about it a lot.

thx - that helps ... but fits the overall state the game got released... there seem to be some small dents in not too important places. Especially when in the ending cutscene Varric talked about me sailing off with Isabella though I only slept with her once and then we both decided it was "just for fun".

There are a few bugs in the game. There's the bug with Merrill's quest, the bugged quest in Act Three that won't activate and seems to have an inactive person who can't be interacted with, and the Nathaniel "Architect reference" bug. I wonder when they'll patch these bugs, or if it's Jowan's Intention all over again.
