Come on Bioware! My absolute favorite part of Mass Effect was watching my decisions carry over and allow me to feel like I was creating my own world. I felt more consequences for decisions made in my first game and to me it seemed it had a greater impact on the story. But with this, why even bother? I've seen nothing but Alistair in the tavern and some talk of things I had done. I want to see an actual impact from my original game otherwise why even let us continue the story. I just met up with Leliana and I was shocked. In some origin play throughs, you can essentially make her not as religious as she was at the start. You can change who she is and I was sorely disappointed to see that nothing I did changed her. As of right now, I am not impressed with my transfer at all. Make it more worthwhile. I know nothing can be done about it now, but for the lover of the Maker, let my decisions have a much larger impact on my own personal world in the 3rd

I guess I'm mostly just mad about all the potential you gave us for variety in Origins, and then never followed up on. I remember I slept with Morrigan, broke up with her for Leliana, made Anora queen, exiled Alistair, recruited Loghain, had him kill the arch demon, and refused Morrigan's offer at the end. Then that coupled with all my things I had done in Awakening, couple that with Witch Hunt. You gave us the opportunity to have an enormous number of personal story due to decisions made in the past game. Like I said, I've only seen Alistair in the tavern and Anora mentioned as queen. I did only just start Act 3, but I know I'm at the end of the game. It would have been nice to see all the work I done to make my story unique actually be for something.

Wow cry much? So what should Hawke run around looking up everyoe who knew the Warden? They touch on a few main points. Seeing as you are in another country playing another character affter the events in Origins. It seems like they did a good job.

Well, the Origins transfer is apparently somewhat buggy (hell, even within Origins expansion packs...), but between the three pre-built histories I was provided to play around with (my Origins file is on the opposite console, unfortunately), I was able to see a few cool differences.

Hero of Ferelden: I come across a Dalish Elf threatening one of the former werewolves, and stand up for him. The vengeful Dalish turns on my party and I beat them into a bloody pulp.

No Compromise: I encounter a human visiting the Dalish clan, who is seeking ingredients for a potion that can slow the curse that's turning the Lady of the Wood and her werewolves steadily more wild. I gather the ingredients on my way to the top of Sundermount and give them to this human, who thanks me and returns to the werewolves with the aid I've provided.

Hero of Ferelden: During my final year, King Alistair of Ferelden requests and audience with me. It's an amusing talk. He's accompanied by our old friend, Bann Teagan.

No Compromise: Alistair is a drunkard in the Hanged Man tavern. During my second year, I encounter him again and witness Bann Teagan picking him up, urging Alistair to return to Ferelden and begin anew.

No Compromise: There's a bounty mission in Lowtown! Amaranthine conspirators, foreign nobles, tried to oust the Warden-Commander! A very stupid thing to do if you know the Warden-Commander, so the mercenary who gave me the job says. But I guess it was to be expected, he burned down their city and all... their lives were cheap, but it was a few Sovereigns more toward that epic and climactic quest into the Deep Roads, so I've no complaints.

Not everything can be a game changing consequence. Otherwise, the game would never be made in the first place. Too many variables.

^Does that matter? If they are going to import why retcon all of the possible deaths?

Reminds me of Baldur's Gate II... when none of your choices mattered even slightly, at all, and all you got was your character and their EXP. Ah, those were the good old days. You could spend the game being a complete bastard and have personally murdered Minsc and Boo in cold blood, kicked Khalid in the trousers with a spiked boot, and left Jaheira's head on a pike, and somehow they'd all be in Irenicus's dungeon anyway.

Incidentally, I didn't personally murder Minsc, but his appearance in BG2 did confuse me, as I seem to remember him walking headlong into a vaporization trap at some point.

Or maybe this was their plan all along? You can't say its a ret con if they planned Leliana to be in DA2 under different circumstances.

Yeah I can. DA2 is retconning what happened in DA:O

Considering the turn around time for this game they *had* to make some choices that would be 'canon' and cancel out player choices from DA:O. Hopefully in future DLCs/patches the buggy imports will be fixed and new events will be added that take better advantage of the imports.

Until then please bare in mind that there this was an amazingly fast turn around with some extremely solid DLCs in the mix. Also consider they're still developing ME3 and other games.

It may just be that they screwed up that part of the save transfer and thus couldn't do anything about the various possible fates of the various different characters. Hell, my old forum's character profile seemed to think I'd executed Loghain. Not only did I spare Loghain when I actually got to it, but it was telling me I'd executed Loghain FIVE MINUTES AFTER OSTAGAR.

The Internet: "Conveniently awaken my psychic powers!"
Me: "Ah, no. I'm going to spare him just to be contrary. But nice try."
The Internet: "...@#$%."
