Shadow Veil NOT Obscuring?! No disorienting crits from it...

I was under the impression that Shadow Veil would obscure my character when he went under stealth. Well, it seems to only last a matter of a second or two, or isn't a true form of obscurement.

My issue is thus: Even if I stealth and subsequently use an auto-crit ability on an enemy, no disorientation occurs if they survive. There isn't even a shield popping up to say disorienting doesn't work on them. The only obscuring that allows my criticals to disorient was when I was using the chameleon's breath ability on my rogue or the obscure from bursting arrow via Varric.

Does anyone else have this issue? Or am I looking at this the wrong way?

I'm wondering if the reallocation from Maker's Sigh from the Black Emporium "undid" the training when I retrained back into Disorienting Criticals and Shadow Veil...

Do you have Lingering Shroud? This is conjecture since I can't test at the moment, but it's possible Lingering Shroud cancels the obscure to keep you in stealth before Disorienting Criticals kicks in.

Maker's Sigh will undo absolutely everything attribute and ability-wise that was done to your character, including specializations. In the case of abilities, you will even be refunded the frivilous spare point that was expended without your consent at the start, however in the case of -attributes-, they -still- will be reverted to their "recommended" default numbers you saw when you were level 1, not all the way down to 10.

Yeah I'm experiencing the same issue: no disorient status after I stealth (with Shadow Veil and Disorienting Criticals) and critical hit, but I can disorient enemies if I'm obscured with Chameleon's Breath and critical hit. I just tested it out now and it appears that the former is true both with and without Lingering Shroud, so it appears, at least from my standpoint, that Shadow Veil is bugged.

Interestingly, on occasion the disorient symbol does very briefly appear above the enemy when I critical hit from stealth with Shadow Veil, but it only remains for a split-second before disappearing, unlike the Chameleon's Breath route, which works as expected for me.

I had a run with Merril set up with disorient CC and was disappointed in the Shadow Veil/Lingering shroud inability to create a disorient. With Maker's sigh and Chameleon's Breath or fatigue fog it was super easy to get the right obscure CC. Basically don't go for stealth obscure shadow build because it doesn't work, much easier with fog flasks to get some killer combo's.

I've experienced the same problem with Shadow Veil. I know it's not a major gamebreaker or anything, but it would be nice to have some sort of official acknowledgment for this bug. Is there any sort of bug reporting or support ticket system where this could be entered? I assume Bioware is aware of this problem, but you never know...

Yes, shadow veil is buged. No disorienting crits. from them. Sigh, how many bugs does this game have? And why isn't the xbox version getting their patch update? Crist! I'm never buying anything that mike laidlaw is involved in from now on. That idiot copy&paste, so much of the world, it takes you right out of the game. DA:O, ME & ME2 didn't have this many bugs. WTF! Reason = MIke laidlaw. I can't believe the denial that he's in. who hired him? He's more of a salesman then a designer.

Hmm, I'm experiencing the same problem (though I'm using the stealth from decoy as opposed to actual stealth), as stated no enemies are disoriented, even when I hit them with auto-crit abilities like twin fangs.

Is there any indication that bioware is working on fixing this?

Excuse me, sir, but what does this have to do with Mike? He is a LEAD DESIGNER, not a bug tester or QA. You have no idea of what you are talking about.

As for the bug, it is self-evident since the obscuration goes away immediately after exiting stealth. No need to test Disorienting Criticals. Strangely enough, instead, the 3% stealth chance you get when attacked HAS the obscured effect lasting (even if you never took Shadow Veil or Stealth).

Today I decided to respec my rogue to get Disorienting Criticals and Shadow Veil earlier. Well, thank god I noticed no disorient signs popping up and came to have a look here so didn't waste a long time playing with it...
Seems to still be bugged. Would be nice to know if this will be fixed, or Bioware is even aware of it...

It's going through patch testing right now.
