I bought the first Witcher Enhanced edtion off steam the other day. Unplayable lag and there are no video options whatsoever wtf.
Main mennu>options>video options. At least in my hard copy of the game. And in advanced options you can adjust detail settings, gamma, lighting, etc.

It'll be more like Arkham Asylum this timebussinrounds wrote...
I didn't really like the timing based clicking in the Witcher either, but the game seemed pretty cool otherwise.

To be Clear, much of the Dragon Age pre-release flame-wars were aggravated by snobbery from fans of both games. however, some people on these forums still resent fans of the Witcher series for provoking a good number of the early flame-wars. I personally don't think that I am qualified to judge either game until I can snag a copy and finish it.
Furthermore, Godwins law should not be used in ad hominem attacks on other forumites.
To be clear, I was not using Godwni's Law to belittle him but a statement of fact, it has occured early, his analogy to ****s was completely unwarranted, needless and even false. The Witcher did not perform heinous acts, some fanboys attacked each other but the game itself is faultless in this regard whereas the ****s performed horrific acts and so liking them would imply support for those actions. The OP never once makes an attack on any Bioware games, he even states that Bioware's games will probably still be better for him, showing a liking for a game does not imply support for the behaviour of other fans, which makes invoking the ****s to justify attacks upon him as a clear case of Godwin's Law.
This thread shows that discussion of this game can occur and has occured without flaming and lead to fair discussions as long as the posters are respectful. No one can say whether it is a good game until they have played it of course, but that shouldn't stop people from discussing it if they want to.

Funny, except the developers recognized the puerility of sex cards and removed them from the sequel.
I guess if you like to make false representations without research, it's cool to assume things and make yourself look silly.
Indeed. Developers themselves admitted that they overdid it in Witcher 1, and removed them in the sequel. Intimate stuff is still there as it is in the books, though not in juvenile fashion and far from main focus.
I have high hopes for Witcher 2. I LOVED the story and characters of Witcher 1 and it made me to read the novels too, which are fantastic in my opinion. Witcher 1 had severe gameplay faults which I hope they fix, like tedious back and forth running and so on. Oddly, I never had a problem with timing based combat, I actually liked it.

There is certainly a Misogyny built into the Game, which I didn't care for too much but you can play Geralt different ways to the point of making him almost respectful of the Women around him.
The Combat is lacking, but I kind of took the point of view early on that most of the Combat system is in where you place your Skill Points not in the actual fighting.
All-in-all, I had a blast playing it & I'm looking forward to 2...I'm just not going to buy it until the price drops about 6 months after release.

You get used to the combat and need to get past the first act for the game to pick up IMO

"Getting Past the First Act" is not the sign of a good game. The first act is what is supposed to draw you in, if it feels dragging and the player is not having fun during the first act they don't really have incentive to continue playing.
Sorry if I sound rude but I see this come up a lot in games and honestly I just don't see it as a good defense for a game.

True. As I said somewhere that game has problems, slow and tedious start being one. I am not saying it is not fun, but it could have been done better. But 2/3 of the game is quite gold. Just my opinion though.

Please look at this video Combat Overview Combat has been improved immensely.
As for the Witcher being borderline porno...well have you ever seen porno? I don't remember Witcher having anything as erotic as porno in the game. Infact Witcher 1's sex cards where removed from Witcher 2 and we now get actualy romance scenes. Granted it has nudity but I don't see it as negative. The sex scenes should have nudity it's a lot better then someone dry humping Hawke. I mean what the hell? It's a M rated game. It's for adults. There is a movie named Shortbus. It's a movie that uses sex to ADD to the story. Why can't a game do the same? Geralt and Triss are lovers in the books and in the game it makes sense they want to sleep with each other.
I don't know about everyone else but I enjoyed the first act of Witcher 1. At least during the day time there was no combat so I spent my time talking to almost any NPC I could find that would initiate dialogue. I really liked the atmosphere of the world. There is racism. sexism and it doesn't feel forced. It feels like it's apart of the world. Most of all the corruption in Witcher is as tacked on like it was in DA2. Meredith being corrupted by a damn idol. At least in Witcher it's just greed or desire for power. Human nature really and CDProjekt knows how make a mature story.
But there is a thread with a lot of people already discussing the Witcher 2 so as to not spam the forum why not just..idk talk in the other thread?
