Question for people who played through the game as a mage.

Was there even a choice at the end of the game? =O

Seriously I played a rogue so I don't know, just seems silly if you were a mage there would really be no choice. Posted Image

Yes, you can side with the Templars. Not that they ever notice that you're a mage. I launched into a stunning display of combat magic two feet in front of Cullen's face and still had a fantastic conversation with him afterward about how mages can't be treated like people. Seriously, what the hell.

I think Cullen is the only templar that does that. Alot of people commented on my Mage Hawkes magic, including Meredith.

Yes i play as a mage, yeah i think there are some good choices to be made, and even more so as your actually part of the problem and not an outsider as if you were playing rogue or warrior.

As for my character i feel mages should be free, but i forbid blood magic.

I had to think about it and I played a mage. You might not like Templars but when you see so many mages using Blood Magic and turning into Abominations and summoning demons it does suggest that perhaps something has gone horribly wrong in Kirkwall's Circle.

I did still side with the Mages in the end though, was delighted when Carver joined me (was sure I'd have to kill him). Rolled my eyes when both Orsino AND Meredith went nuts. One would be fine, even if it was Orsino, but both...?

Yeah but most people only start to comment about you being a mage when you become the Champion of Kirkwall. By then everyone knows who you are and it's general knowledge. Other than that... there are only a few people who actually notice, and comment, that you're a mage before you become the Champion... even if you use magic right infront of them.

if you're a mage in act 3 its stated that you're the only open apostate and they cant touch you because of your huge standing in the city being the champion and all. its part of orsinos pitch to you too "you're a free apostate, you bring hope to so many mages" or something like that.

in act 1 and 2 you're a secret one though i think, i remember in act 2 when i went to get teh qunari elves with aveline and they flipped out and attacked us it looked like i was gonna blast dudes in the cutscene and avelines like "no, dont its too open" warning me that too many people would notice or something?

Some do. I know some of them have said things along the lines of "I'll ignore your magical powers for now." I guess the other ones just don't realize that the fire falling from the sky and ice blasting across the battlefield is magic. Maybe they think that there are just some bizaar weather phenomena going on.

Yeah, there's no way in hell the Templars wouldn't have noticed a Ferelden refugee using magic within city limits. It was sloppy game design and Bioware completely ignored the rules of the world they created.

Hawke was using magic in Kirkwall in acts 1 and 2.  The Templars should have responded immediately.  They keep the Circle mages in cells, for Pete's sake, and Hawke just does whatever he wants to?  Pffft... not buying it.

You get that line with any class, sadly.

It wasn't exactly a choice, seeing as how the right of annulment actually effects not every mage currently leashed by the circle, but technically, every mage in the city.

Still, Da2 missed the opportunity of being a great, rather then just a very very good game, when it didn't drag me off to the gallows at the very last after forcelighting the Arishok.
