Well, I suppose it was only a matter of time.

For years, up until the point I played Dragon Age 2, I believed Bioware to be something akin to a God among men; they were truly the only company, in my opinion, which never released a bad game. Every Bioware release was compelling, engrossing, thought provoking, fun, and truly a demonstration of RPG mastery.

However, with DA2, I feel that Bioware has finally released their first "bad" game. Granted, Bioware's worst is still better than most, but when compared to other titles (ESPECIALLY when compared to DA:O), DA2 is a huge, huge dissapointment for many reasons (which I am not going to list here, as there simply far too many of them).

What do you guys think? Is DA2 Bioware's first truly bad game, or has there been another title in the past which you were extremely dissapointed with?

Nope, NWN is the first.
Followed by that Sonic game, probably ... cant really comment about that one.

NWN2 maybe, but NWN1 was pretty good. DA2 is pure ass.

I'd say neverwinter nights as well. I was just as disappointed to it than I am to DA2.

Sonic Chronicles holds the distinction for worst.

NWN is second worst.

DA2 is third.

NWN campaign was bad, but it had enormous potential for user-generated content, and that's what made it great.
DA2 isn't bad either. I just can't hate it. I think it's just unfinished.

Neverwinter Nights 2 was developed by Obsidian, not BioWare.

I wouldn't say that DA2 is bad. Underdeveloped, sure, but never bad.

It's mainly the "shock" of creating DAII after ME2. A game that's one of the highest rated game ever. A game that's won so many GOTY/awards that it's almost funny.

And then, DAII. 80 metacritic and it will probably still go down.

DA2 was better than Jade Empire, by a large margin.

I don't think DA2 is bad.
It's been over-hyped and is lacking a few years in developement but still one of my favorite games.
Just my 2 cents.

Yeah...it's definitely superseded the abysmal Jade Empire in my books as the worst Bioware RPG of all time.

1= DA2
2 = Jade Empire
3 = ME2

It may not be up to your ridiculous standards, but is still a good game, just not an amazing one.

I wouldn't waste time mincing words; a retail game that is underdeveloped is a bad game.

Really, if you classify Dragon Age 2 as a bad game. You should quit gaming now. There is a vast sea of absolutely miserable games out there that you're trying to lump DA2 into that it is far, far, far beyond in many methods.

At worst, DA2 has some development choices (namely mechanic simplification[characters], frame narrative setting, and dungeon re-usage) that really are being argued with here.

It's like we stopped giving Bioware credit for all the staples of awesomeness they manage to give with every title. And we're all acting like spoiled brats because of it.

Seriously, people who complain about this game need to be tied to a chair with headphones on listening to FFXIII's Vanniel for a month straight as punishment. That'll set their perspectives straight.

DA2 isn't anywhere near being bad. It's just not as 'good' as everyone's inflated expectations. I knew that they were going to get some flack for trying new things. But I'm glad they didn't go the Pokemon route with the Dragon Age series.

No. It's hugely disappointing, but not truly bad. It works technically, combat functions, although in a way I don't personally enjoy. But the acting was excellent and the story is engaging--not the case with an actual bad game. As an RPG, it's shallow and unfulfilling, as an action game, I suppose it succeeds better, being unusually deep for the genre. In any case, it's not bad, just no where near as good as it's predecessor.

I'm not sure I'd call it a bad game; I've played worse, believe me.

Overall it just doesn't feel like it knows what it wants to be or what it wants to be marketed as being. There are RPG elements there, but they do not sit comfortably. For instance you can assign attribute points whenever you level up, but there's really only two statics that each class is ever going to want to increase so why not just make the levelling process automatic? Your being given a choice, but its a choice with one glaringly obvious correct answer and a lot of other wrong ones. Is that really still a choice?

The topic is about whether DA2 is the worst "Bioware" game.

Hardly biowares first bad game. Jade Empire and the NWN campaigns were all bad as well.

DA2 being bad as it is shouldn't surprise anyone. Bioware never was on the level of Blizzard or Valve in terms of quality.

"Bad" is a poor description. "Lukewarm" is more closely how I feel about DA2.

From my original post:

"Granted, Bioware's worst is still better than most, but when compared to

Meaning I am enjoying it and I do believe that it's better than most games out right now, but compared to other Bioware titles, it sorely dissapoints

Actually, that would be Blizzard :P
