I don't know, I really enjoyed conversing with him, and I felt such a sympathy as I took the sarcastic discussion with him at the end.
"I hope your not giving up First Enchanter."
He then has the bit where he clarifies that Quentins research seemed too evil, that he could never bring himself to actually practice the magic of his own accord, and he has that final outburst where he then says,
"I'm not giving up, I'm giving IN!"
"The knight commander wants blood magic...? Then I'll give her blood magic!"
His desperation and frustration created a very powerful scene for me.

Oh I agree. Though my favorite part was the sarcastic remark a F!Hawke makes to him when he asks her to go check out the secret meetings - IF Anders isn't in the party - Orsino gets dirty, that sly fox

I never made that comic as you probably know and if I recall, he never helped the blood mage kill your mother, he only knew about his deeds and research and used that at the end because he was desperate but to me - it's the same as all the other mages who use blood magic when every other method seems useless.
Before using Decoiand's (The Kirkwall Killer or whatever his name was) research to transform himself into that...that thing, he seemed decent but obviously BW only made him use that research just as an excuse to add a second boss hence why the comic contains some truth because of the irony of it all.
I liked First Enchanter Ivring better. He understood that mages can be dangerous and he never gave in either. A truly respectable mage that man. He deserves more love than Orinoco.

Well she does come off as being more manly than Aveline so...
I, on the other hand, think Orsino is quite manly and my OC is definitely the feminine energy between the two of them and she's happy letting him take the 'man' role

It always impresses me when people write characters like Orsino, Joker, etc. well since they have less dialogue and backstory to draw upon for reference. I struggle to write major characters and keep them IC.

I think that's because the side characters allow a lot more freedom. They don't really have a set character type so you can play with them a little more and not lose it.
