I actually enjoyed all of the companions. Merrill was my favourite but they all ended up being endearing. I started off hating Aveline but she really grew on me, especially later on in her quest chain.

Also Varric and Merrill have amazing banter together, that bit about the ball of string was freaking adorable.

This. Merrill is the epitome of cute! Although I found myself liking Isabella a heck of a lot more than I thought I would. Mostly for the party banter with Aveline and Merrill (those three were my party in my first playthrough any time I wasn't forced to take someone else on and boot one of them out). And in playthrough two, I am enjoying her banter with Bethany too. There are a lot of Isabella haters out there, but I thought her character was a lot more fun than I ever expected her to be.

But then what I have seen of Varric was great too. Bioware continues to load their games with characters I adore.

Sandal had more depth than fenris.
Isabella's constant sexual innuendo got tired after awhile.
Varrick was decent. Good voice actor.
Flemeth was awesome I admit, Kate Mulgrew's voice was perfect. I do want flemeth's armor tho.

The male hawke had the worst voice acting.. the female hawke was much better.

For the rest of them.. nothing memorable. Merill got tiring after 10 minutes.

Didn't like him before, but the terrorist mage thing is hawt. So much so that I made a terrorist mage and bromanced him in the next playthrough.

Put a gun to my head, and I will say Varric (lawl, I almost typed Garrus), but I really like ... well ... all of 'em. Merrill probably wins the "Most Surprising" award, I thought she'd be OK, but I wound up thinking she was just cute as a button.

It's a close race b/w Varric and Isabela... I think Isabela wins it though, I thought she wasn't going to be all that great, but was pleasantly surprised.

Isabela keeps cracking me up on the banter. Working on the nerves of Aveline for kicks, abusing Merril's naivity for laughs, all the excuses when you try to bring her along into the Qunari compound. She's simply the one that makes most use of the personalities of the other characters. Much like Shale in DA:O, who was more attuned to outwitting all the other partymembers, though Morrigan did come a close second.

 Merril´s cuteness I found a little annoying.  She is better after act one but when she said something along the lines of ¨He broke his beard? Do you think it hurts?¨ it nearly got her banned from my party.   Isabella on the other hand won me over in this game big time. Things like when Aveline asks her if being called a pirate hag bothers her and she says ¨No because they don´t know me, I know me¨ really won me over.   She maybe slightly self centered and whorish but at least she is also confident with her choices in life and the person she is.   

and of course Varric is near the top of my list as well.

My favorite are Merrill and Varric, love their banter and I found Merrill sweet and adorable, and Varric a loveable bs'er. My least favorite Anders, hated him the second I met him.

Surprisingly I like Hawke; at first I thought his deep voice didn't mesh well with the much more attractive Hawke I created for myself, but it grew on me. I really also liked Bethany. Those two are my favorite characters so far that I feel the most attached to.

Strange cause in BioWare games I almost always pick a love interest as my favorite; in this one its the protagonist and my sister.

Isabella , funny, obviously attractive in her own right, and extremely interesting.

Then...I would say...heck, most of them are amazing. I loved Isabella, Varric, Merrill, Bethany, and Aveline...they were awesome.

Fenris...as cool as his music is, is just a rival to my character. Kind of like a Vegeta to Goku comparison. My character is good...Fenris is a renegade.

Then there's Anders...completely made me so mad and upset when he hit on me...and then the Justic thing....!!! I never took him into my party....he was kind of boring...and only served his use with the....you know what...haha.

But for all you wondering who meshes the best....it's Isabella, Varric, and Merrill in the party hands down. These three are the best! Some of my favorite characters in a Bioware game....I wish I could carry them over to Mass Effect 3!!!!!!!!

Merrill. She is everything I love in a companion. She is super cute, has a great voice, is super awkward and has a very dark side.

Verric is a very close second though. Those two are really my favorite Bioware characters ever.
