If you could have a DLC that explains the backstory of a companion, which one would it be?

I don't know that I'd want DLC where anyone but Hawke was the main character, though using Hawke to explore someone's past...

Fenris, Varric, or Merrill?

I'd really love to see comics or novels or something though.

Merril's definetely. Her falling to the lure of the Eluvian and talking to a demon and finally learning blood magic. Second probably Fenris. He escaped the Tevinter Imperium! I wanna see the Imerperium the only land where mages are truly free and we know how terrible the mages there are.

I can't choose one. :( Even the companions I dislike are interesting to me.

I know he's from Origin and not Dragon Age 2...but I would love to see a DLC about Loghain's rise from commoner to war hero during the Orlesian occupation of Ferelden. I think he really has the potential for a truly fascinating story, with plenty of moral dilemmas.

I must say Fenris' backstory would make an interesting DLC. As would Isabela's.

If they absolutely need to do back-story DLC, I'd at least try something with Merrill or Isabella. But honestly, I hope it doesn't come down to more Leliana's Song DLCs. I want expansions, content that leads up to DA3 and expands on it. Or at least material that fills in the blanks of the whole Chantry-Mage debacle.

Post-game content.

The issue is, that story has already been told in a novel. Read "The Stolen Throne", written by our own David Gaider.

Anders. We could have a backstory on how he got to where he is in DA2 with Justice... however I would prefer dlc where he goes on a quest to be rid of Justice now that he realizes it was a mistake.

My second choice would be Sebastian. What happened with him and his lands... or a dlc where he goes back to Starkhaven and takes back his lands.

Isabella, but only if it involved Pirates and big Boats.

Fenris. He has the most mysterious background out of the companions.  He never shares what he does remember with Hawke. It would be interesting to see his background that led up to him getting the lyrium tattoos. Heart breaking, but interesting.

Varric, it'd make the most sense seeing that he tells the story, Cassandra could just ask him "Wait, what went on before you came into this story?"

the way I see it, Isabella and Anders make the most sense since their actions tie directly to the main plot, so more understanding of them would be great

We already learn a lot about Anders in Dragon Age:Origins-Awakening.

But I agree with you about Isabella.

DLC for the story when Anders merges with Justice and the transformation from the Anders in Awakening to the Anders in DAII.  Because despite what we know of him in Awakening he goes through some pretty heavy **** to end up like he is in DAII.  Would love to see it.

I also would love some Isabella DLC where we releases the slaves and then have to steal that Qunari sacred text only to be stranded at Kirkwall.

Varric would be great to have because he is Hawke's best bud and I would like to see him find Bianca, and why is she named such?

Aveline at Ostagar would be awesome, and we could see familiar faces, figth the battle at the front line and then have to escape the horde.  How awesome would it be to have her talking to someone who is gossiping about the new Warden recruit who just showed up with Duncan?  This has potential I think.

Fenris would be cool to have DLC also.  Although it would probably take place on Seahron (the island the Qunari took from Tevinter can't spell it) and escaping his master, maybe several times.

If I had to choose just one of these it would be Aveline's Ostagar DLC...that just seems too awesome.

Some DLC where Hawke actually attends one of the noble's gatherings/parties in Kirkwall after he/she becomes Champion. That could just be good fun.

Fenris. Not because he's my favourite, just because he's like, the only character this would really work for. He's the only one who has a dramatic backstory arc like Leliana did.

Not they they're going to do it. Leliana's song was my favourite DLC, but most people don't agree :(

I would have to say Isabela, like many have said she is tied into the main plot. Some of the stories she tells of her past are very interesting, and would be amazing to play through. Just like in DAO you hear all the stories of Leliana's past, and then you get to play through them in Leliana's song, I'm hoping of something similar for Isabela.

I prefer DLC's that lead upto DA 3 as well. But I'd love to get some info on the backgrounds of our companions.
It seems like we know less about the backgrounds of our companions in DA 2 then we did about our companions in Origins. but that might just be me.

For example I was really hoping that Isabella would tell us some of her adventures as a pirate, or tell a little about Rivain. And Merrill tell us about the Dalish and how her clan moved on after Tamlen's death.

The only one that really seemed to go into more detail about his live was Fenris, but it still felt a bit lacking.

I still want to see Wynne and Shale's journey to Tevinter. Will Shale remain a golem, or become something else.

Little Dwarf with rock armor and a huge Stone hammer... that's all I am sayin'.

Honestly? If I could have anything, I'd pick DLC about Hawke's childhood, for a couple of reasons:
Firstly, I wasn't really satisfied with the introduction of Hawke's doomed sibling. I mean seriously, I've only been playing for twenty minutes, had exactly three conversations with them and you expect me to care when they die? Not going to happen. Some sort of buildup would have been nice.
Secondly, I'd love more interaction between all three siblings. It seems like it'd be interesting to see how Carver and Bethany get along, and the growing resentment between Carver and Hawke.
Finally, I'm just really curious about Malcolm. I wanna see!
But (since I'm a realist) I'd like Fenris. He just seems like the most interesting character.

Ugh, can Varric just narrarate everything ever? He needs his own audiobook series. I'd be down for anything they wanted to do with him. AND FENRIS. Because we learn a little bit about stuff, but I think it would be cool to go farther down with his sister and how he asked for his markings etc.

And Zevran because I wanna see more about the Crows and he tickles my fancy forever.

I don't want DLCs that take place in the past. I didn't buy Leliana's Song.

Varric. I don't know if I'd want any backstory DLC's, but if anyone deserves one, it might as well be the guy telling the story.

I meant companions from DA 2, but yeah it would be interesting to see Zev's past with the Crows.
Though I wouldn't mind a DLC about what he is doing now, killing Crows cells here and there as well as Masters.
