It should be noted that I'm only just starting act 2 now so if they actually describe the reason for writing out the sibling out along the way in the game then I'd rather it not be spoiled (I already know about their return in act 3) but man...I lost interest in the game just like that, now she writes bitter letters but I'd rather that than the other option
so did anyone load back to pre-deep roads? [spoilers]

Friend reloaded as soon as he heard Verrick's narration to Cassandra.

Also because I had not seen Hawke slit his throat or anything, so I was pretty convinced he was going to come back as a ghoul or hurlock or what have you later in the story.

What's the impact of leaving her at home vs. bringing Anders along to Grey Warden-ify her?

@above: if you leave her at home she gets caught by templars and sent to the circle. She then assists you in Act 3 depending on what side you take in the conflict that takes place during it. If you bring anders then she becomes a grey warden and helps you anyways in act 3.
Honestly the rock wraith is pretty easy with anders group heal/ revive/ etc. . . it's not as much of a hassle to keep everyone alive during it, assuming your Hawke tanks, because otherwise good luck tanking with Bethany Varric and a rogue Hawke with health bars smaller than my fingernail.

OK, thanks. Grey Warden seems like a better outcome to me.
My Hawke is a DW Rogue and I had Aveline tanking w/ Varric and Bethany on AoE/CC/Heals and the occasional single target DD. The Rock Wraith fight wound up taking forever and I burned through 11 health and a couple of lyrium and stamina pots in the process. Timing up the cooldowns for Bethany's heals and everyone's health potions seemed to be crucial. I'd imagine it will be a lot easier throwing Anders into the mix.

As far as making them happy, the best option for Carver is Grey Wardens. The best option for Bethany is to not take her at all. She seemed very content when that choice played out.
