If you get the friendship passives from Isabella or Sebastian and group with these companions, they slowly destroy Hawke by lowering damage resistance and attack speed until you are slow as molasses and frail.

I don't recall what their Friendship Passives are but I'm betting that they are Friendly Fireing?

No, their passive abilities are bugged and slowly and permanently lower Hawkes attack speed and damage resistance.

did you report this bug to the devs?

How is that even possible? Does your damage go down by like 1 every minute or something? There would have to be some trigger causing the stat reduction.

This could explain why in my first playthrough, by the end of the game my warden's attacks seemed to be getting awfully slow and weak. I heard of another player noticing by the third act that his character's damage reduction was at -10% (meaning he was taking extra from every attack) but he didn't know why. Has this bug been reported?

That's an odd bug to make it out into release. My guess is that it's not properly applying the +Speed/Resist, but is 'properly' removing it every time they're added/removed. I haven't ran with them as friend yet.

Yep can't finish the game for that reason. I think it's time to start over.

And yes, there are tons of posts about it. Here's one thread:
http://social.biowar.../index/6459070/

If you have it you'll know your entire movement is slowed and it looks like you're in slow motion although everything else is at normal speed.
Some guy recorded how it looks like look it up if you want visualization.

That is ... that is a really weird bug. But it also explains why my MANHAWKE mage was starting to seem sort of sluggish and I couldn't figure out why!

Yea these bugs are impossible to miss! I am on my first playthrough and have been hit with the following bugs.

-If I revive anyone by using a spell or mythals favor potion, they are treated as if out of combat and constantly regenerate health at absurd rates, and it also bugs out their ability to attack.

-Grouping with Sebastian who has a friendship bonus progressively lowers your damage resistance over time. You eventually get into the negatives.

-Grouping with Isabella who has a friendship bonus progressively lowers your attack speed until you are slow as molasses.

-If I use the makers sigh respec potion on my mage I somehow end up with way more ability points and specialization points then I should have.

-If I give my companions an order and they are stunned, knocked back, or interrupted in some way then the order I gave them is completely ignored.

-If I select all party members and right click on the ground, I often have to do it 10 times before the game registers that I clicked upon the ground. Many places on the ground do not register

-Ranged companions idiotically move into melee range of enemies

-Telling teamates to hold position sometimes results in them doing absolutely nothing but standing there.

-Spamming abilities (repeatedly hitting the ability hotkey) causes your character to shuffle in place if out of range

-Casting silence on an enemy who is already in animation for casting a spell/cability does not interrupt the spell/ability, making the spell go through and the reactive nature of silence worthless. It can only be used pre-emptively.

-Casting cleanse next to an enemy mage who is barrier'd does not remove the barrier.

-Tactics rearranging themselves and getting disorganized, especially if you move them around. If you move just one tactic, often several tactics switch orders and sometimes the entire tactic changes itself.

This is from 1 playthrough and Im not even done with act 2.

Could be true. But then again, I don't bother with 'bela nor 'bastian when I have 'ol Varric all the time.

Quick question, can you still romance/keep Isabella without ever unlocking her passive?

Strangely, I never had a problem with both Sebastien and Isabela. Granted, I don't use Sebastian that often, but I had Isabela with me all the time, and for about half the game with the friendship passive.

Quick question, can you still romance/keep Isabella without ever unlocking her passive?

Since you have to have a 100% friendship with Isabela to romance her, no. To make her return after she runs with the relic, you have to be her friend and/or romance her before that quest. Otherwise she'll be gone.

Are you sure there is not more to it? I haven't noticed this at all and used her under friendship a lot.

You have to spend an Ability point to get the Friendship or Rivalry ability, even after it is unlocked.

I had one of the companions, IIRC either Merril or Bethany, up to sufficient friendship to be able to select the ability, but I didn't spend the point and it was not added.

EDIT: I was completely wrong - I noticed that the Merril passive ability was lit up and it appeared that I could select it to spend points on it, but I could not because it was already activated.

Are those bugs permanent or only occur when you are grouped with Isabela and Seb?

I did not invest any ability points in the friend or rival aspects and recieve the bonuses, so I doubt they need to actually be invested in to activate.

Sadly my Mage has been hit with it but I have only noticed it after changing from Act II to Act III.

I 100 percented Isabella in friendship and I'm not slow or weak at all. Must have more variables to this, or a chance.

Ps3 version by the way.

That would actually explain a lot. I was sure that by Act 3 my mage Hawke was attacking much more slowly in Act 3 than Act 1 and 2. But then I thought I'd have to be crazy to believe that.

PC version.

That's very disappointing. But thanks for mentioning this. I will make sure to annoy Isabella and Sebastian on my next playthrough :)

My attack speed was unaffected until immediately after I downloaded the DLC for The Black Emporium. I believe the +5% friendly modifier always showed up in my ability tab until the DLC as well, so I am going to assume the two are related.

Hopefully I can do something to "repair" this until there is a patch.

Could it be related to respeccing with them in the party? Or do you mean it bugged out the moment you loaded it up after installing?
