I'll try to go back to my earlier save to double check this, but I remember when I hovered my mouse over the Friendship ability, it was something I could have selected and spent an Ability point on, but chose not to.

I did not encounter this bug. I had Isabella in my party the entire game, she was full friend, I had her thumbs up passive, and I even slept with her.
No slow motion. It's perhaps something more specific than the friendship.

It's only every time you remove her that it happens. In theory if you gain her friendship and then never ever remove her from your party, you won't get dinged.

Also, it takes a little while to build up to a noticible level.

Okaay... I used neither of them in my first playthrough, was planning on having both around this time, I guess I'll just put this one on hold until it's fixed...

I am definitley being hit with this on the Ps3 version. Slowest assassin ever.... The leaping attack is pretty amusing in slow motion but the game is pretty much unplayable now.

Got hit hard by this bug as well. My DW rogue attacks slower than a DA:Origins 2-handed Warrior and affects both auto attacks and special attack speeds. It would seem that every time you remove one of the two mentioned companions from your group the benefits are removed incrementally and permanently from your character (ie -5% attack speed permanently every time Isabella is removed from the group).

It's hard to notice at first but after a while the incremental losses pile up to the point where it has a severe impact on your character. My Twin Fangs for instance takes around a full 3 seconds for the animation to complete. Hopefully this gets resolved soon. Personally I was planning on using a "friend" Isabella heavily in the current 2hand Warrior play through I've just begun, I guess I'll hold off on that until it gets patched. :/

Edit: silly posting while half asleep meant special attack not movement

This could be a PC only bug, I am on the 360 and Isabela with Friendship and my attacks are actually faster than before.

Also, you don't have to spend an abiiity point, it shows on Hawke's ability screen without spending a point in itz

It affects both the PC and PS3... one would assume it affects 360 users as well, but anything is possible.

Yeah, I forgot to read the whole thread, forgot about the second page.

Okay, so it is if you put them and remove them in the party, but I have done that many times with Isabela and it didn't affect me. But I will need to do more extensive testing.

Do you need to exit the character select screen or if you just keep tapping Accept the negative effect will stack?

Ok wow I wondered this as well. I thought maybe it had to do with wearing heavier armor or certain weapons had a slower attack rating. The other possibility I was thinking was I got hit with a spell that reduces attack speed which bugged out and i never recovered. This explains why I had to rely on bezerk and haste all the time to regain my attack speed in act 3.

Regardless of what the cause this happened to me as well and it was very noticable. I'm not sure if this information is usefull but my main party consisted of Isabela, Varric, Bethany and Anders when Bethany was not available. I also romanced Isabela if that has anything to do with it, I really hope they fix this bug as Isabela is my favorite companion aside from Bethany and Varric.

The attack speed bug is hard to see because there is no numerical value that tells me how fast/slow I am fighting but the Damage Resistant bug is more obvious.

I do not think just using/removing those companions itself will cause the bug - I have tried for the pass 2 hours to reproduce the bug without success BUT the damage resistant bug is very real.

I notice sometimes I still see the friendship icon in my ability screen even whem Isabela and Sebastian is not in my party - maybe that is the cause.

You do not have to use Maker Sight to get the companion bug.

I think it happens when you are doing companion quest without them in the party - get friendly point - boom automatically the game assigns you the ability - or in quest that the companion in your party gets automatically removed but not the friendship ability.

The game further checks for you actually having the companion in the party before applying the bonus - companion not in party - bonus not apply.

Now the bug would be - the game does not remove the friendship ability effect even when it will not apply its bonus, so when you add and later remove the said companion from your party - you suffer the 5% damage resistant and speed bonus you never got. Everytime this happens - 5% is added to the said penalty and... Posted ImagePosted Image

This really needs fixing badly... Posted Image

sorry for my very bad English
Never do companion quests without them in the party...
Maker sigh "speed up" the bug (i think ) - it remove not only you own skills, but "companion skills" too (take "friendly Isabella" with you, look in you skills before and after using maker sigh).
An when you remove Isabella from the party after this... the bonus removed twice....(i think)
Hmm... maybe someone can test this on Sebastian? (his bonuses visible in numbers - deleted my own savegame in rage).

Perhaps BioWare should say something about all this...

My gameplay:
Act 1. Using Maker sigh many times - testing skills - not Friendly with Isabella - no problem
Act 2. Make all of companions 100% friendly(it's doable really easy - choose wisely wich companion take on each quest) Never use maker sigh. Isabella friendly - but no problem with attack speed
Act 3. Main party - Me(mage), Isabella, Fenris, Merril. No problem with attack speed. after 22 level - make some skill\\build testing(normal attack speed before) - use Maker sigh many times - Become slow as turtle right after this...
Maybe there is other way to become slowed(removing\\adding Isablella, doing personal quest without her, ect...), but Maker Sigh is one of them (or it's very BIG coincidence)

Can also be connected to dying and getting ressurected while Isa or Sebastian in the party. Bleh. There are a lot of variables of why it can happen, but it defintately has something to do with their friend bonuses messing it up.

Lol, what would you have them say?  Sorry that EA rushed this out the door and we didn't have time to fix known issues?  If they truly were oblivious to half the game-breaking bugs here, then their QA should be fired.

To their defence they have awknowledged the bug, gave word that it is been looked into and have a dev working with people who encountered the bug to track down the root of the problem in the thread I mentioned earlier.

I had the same bug come up b/c Isabella was in my main group in Act II and III... and Sebastian also played a rotating role in the group due to his sidequests. The only way to fix the bug was to use the saved game editor. You can find it here:

Lucky. I didn't actually become friends with Isabella or Sebastian on my first playthrough so nothing bad happened there. But I did encounter other problems. Disorient effects from Pinning Shot never seem to happen. Obscure + disorient crits from Decoy do not seem to work either.
