Is this PC only?

No it is cross platform sir.

Err .. well it never happened to me then. I did pretty much all the no-no's that this thread details yet no issues here.

Never had this on the Xbox, although I don't seem to run into bugs often. I might just be lucky.

I had Isabela for my entire first playthrough (except when I had to use Varric), and I never suffered anything like this. Hope I don't during subsequent playthroughs ...

I thank you all for this thread. I thought I was the only one experiencing this problem. When Bioware does make a patch for this, do you think they can restore the damage resistance and attack speed lost during your current playthrough? Or do you really have to start another game? Sigh :(

Good for you! Most likely you were not friends with Isabela yet during Act 1 so it didn't matter. Plus, you didn't taker her out after that, so there.

If we use a GFF editor like the one at http://social.biowar...m/project/1936/ , does anyone know which data structure to modify to remove the bug?

I didn't get Isabella, but I did get Sebastian's. It happened to me on level up.

This may be another version of the shield bug where the stat incorrectly recalculates itself each time the modifier is applied.
Now I know why my 2H warrior sucked at higher levels. (My excuse and I'm sticking to it).

I should add that I don't have the DLC for Sebastian installed. Maybe that has caused the problem for everyone.

I ran with Sebastian once, I noticed it apply -5% after I finished running with him. 4 to 5 quests later, with never running with him, I'm at -22%??!?!?

I really think you should go to the link in my sig. I think both Isabella and Sebastian's "buff" "bug" work the same way.

I played on PC, and I had isabella in my party from the beginning. I got her friendship very fast, and I never encountered this bug. I even checked multiple times.

If you never remove her from the party you have nothing to worry about.

The process that you did is the only way not to recieve a speed penalty after you started the "condition". When you reload a save with her in your party you will recieve the 5% attack speed bonus from thumbs up. When you take her out of the party the bonus you received will be subtracted from hawkes stats.

If you would now save in any area of the game with isabella NOT  in you're party and reload that save, the game will "show" the "thumbs up" sign in hawk's ability screen but will "not" add a 5% percent bonus to his attack speed in the stats. The next time you switch out you're party (merrills house, fenris manison etc) the game will fix itself and remove the isabella's "thumbs up" from hawks ability screen. In doing so hawks stats will recieve a -5 attack speed penalty. This will happen every time you load a save without her in the party after you "start" the bug.

Well what it worked for me on xbox its to remove Isable manually , I mean as sson as you have the +5% buff you must remove her from the party manually and the buff will disapear, you just to be carefull with this.
For expample if you have Bela and you go to your place(you ll be alone), if you check your buffs you ll see you have still the +5 crap, you must then go to any place(w/o saving) gather your partners with bela, remove bela manually and you ll se that the buff isnt there anymore.
Do this every time you party with Bela.

Is it possible to never remove her from your party, though? If you get her friendship ability before the end of Act 2, doesn't that mean you're screwed regardless of making the active choice to remove her? Because she'll always leave the party to chase after the Qunari book.

That's what happened to me.  At the end of Act 2 it removed her and the bug appeared.  Now I don't know what to do.  I don't know if i can continue or not.  Do I just keep her in my party now and deal with the -5% I have (and pray it won't stack)?

There are all these tips and tricks that are spread across the forums.  Don't reload with her, or is it without her.  Don't save in this place or that place, but you can here and there, but not with her, but sometimes without her, and then if you spin around in a circle 5 times you can load it if you do so while mashing on the attack key with the sam rhythm as Beethoven's 5th symphony.

Seriously, I have no flipping clue what to do.  I just started a new game with the idea I'd make her a rival, but I've had little luck pushing her more than +10 rivalry so far.  And replaying Act 1 with my rogue, warrior, and mage has made me about want to quit the game for good.

I also think Bioware will never fix it on the consoles.  I never saw a patch for DA:O on the PS3.  Archery was eternally bugged on the DA:O console version even though a PC patch came out long ago.

And the whole load, reload, blah blah is not a solution for me.  The console version (at least on the PS3) freezes frequently and I have to turn off the PS3, turn on the PS3, and load the most recent save (which is often an auto-save) or lose hours of progress.  If it never froze, I could get into the habit of only loading saves in kirkwall day-time (is it with her, or without her...I can never get it straight).  But that isn't how it works.

Console version freezes often -> don't have a lot of control over which save I get unless I want to back up hours worth of game time.

Rivalry is the only solution, meaning I have to go back through act 1 (and most of act 2) with three different play throughs.  I'm so sick of the quests in Act 1 I could scream.

Ugh so that's why my mage is slower than a snail... at first I thought the blood magic animations are just that slow but now I know it's not just that.

For anyone on xbox having this issue, there is a new version of the firstblight save editor (v1.31) which inlcudes attack speed field so you can correct it if needed.

This could explain why in my first playthrough, by the end of the game my warden's attacks seemed to be getting awfully slow and weak...

pretty impressive seeing as how you dont play as your warden in DA2.  Pretty active imagination if you think Hawke is a warden in any way lol.  But hey *shrugs* if you want to "pretend" you're a warden by all means go right ahead.  Just thought I'd point that out Posted Image

Mark how do you get this save editor to work on a xbox save?
