So...how do we explain that? This is on 360.

Ok so we talked this over with Bloody and I think I know what happened Tigers...tell me if you think this applies to your case.  After you have the two conversations with her at the Hangman (her quest and the follow-up, can't remember what it's called) her friendship points go through the roof.  Now what I did is I immediately clicked on to the flashbar that said "Isabela +20/or whatever" after the conversation was over to see how much more I had to go to max her out.  I think the moment you do that the game assumes she is in your party because it takes you to her character screen.  After this I clicked on my abilities screen and saw the Thumbs Up.

My assumption is that soon as you go to the player character selection screen at the Hangman and make sure she's still not in your party you can then proceed out of the Hangman without fear of activating the bug...but you must still follow Bloody's rules to be 100% safe (i.e. save only during daytime or at Merrill's/Fenris'/Anders' places).

I didn't get her character screen, but did check immediately after. I'll do some more playing and see what happens tonight. Worst case scenario, I just roll with a pirate teammate the rest of the way.

Mark how do you get this save editor to work on a xbox save?

You need to extract the save - need a USB stick and some extraction software - Modio works fine.  Extract, save on your computer (maked a back up just in case) open in editor, make change and Rehash/resign in modio before saving back to the usb.
There are youtube videos look under dragon age 2 xbox mod and you should find some, otherwise let me know and I'll give you a full guide.

Hi Mark, I was wondering if you this could be done for the PS3 and if it can do you have the guide for it?

Thanks:D

I get this on the PC.  With Isabela and Sebastian.  Never put them in party and I still get their "bonuses" while they are out of the party.  I noticed this with Sebastian first with my very first playthrough, but didn't take any notice.  And I don't even have to invite them to the party after getting max friendship for the buff to even show up.  Nor will it disappear...well Isabela one won't disappear.  Sebastian one seems to disappear from time to time.

Even losing Isabela totally after act 2 the buff still remains as well.   But can't say I noticed a drastice aspd drop, as if she was around in act 3.

But this playthrough, Isabela bug hit me hard (also have Sebastian maxed friend too :/).  Aspd is slowed very badly.  Very noticable and very very painful.  But this is first play through I kept her after Act 2.  And can say the decrease in aspd is definitely more noticable.

Sorry, don't know of any tools that can do this for the PS3.  I had a brief look at some sites that may have it if one existed, but with no luck.
If I come across anything, I will come back and let you know, but I think this type of save editor is relatively rare on PS3.

I found a forum that talks about how modio works on PS3 (see  link below), however I have yet to try this out but will keep you posted:

I don't think modio works for PS3 saves and even if it did it doesn't have a DA2 tool, so, if save extraction is possible you'd have to hex edit the save yourself by locating the attack speed. It's possible to do using the file comparison on a hex editor, but you'd need a bit of experience and a specific save set up - access to a couple of attack speed increase items for example - in order to do this (I think).

EDIT: Just looked through some search results for PS3 hex editting and I would suggest unless you really know your stuff DO NOT even think about attempting this.  I'm not even sure the tools exist to carry this out successfully.

I know, it does seem to be a game breaking bug.
There are so many issues with the game, it's obviously going to take time to address them all, however this appears to be one of the most severe reported, that I've seen, and should hopefully be addressed in one of the early patches, if not the first.

One thing I was wondering (off topic I know), if a customer bought this game for a console and was not online and so couldn't get these patches to fix a "faulty" product, should they be receiving a full refund?

That would probably be up to the retailer from which you bought the product. Of course the glitch doesn't actually prevent you from playing the game, it just prevents you from playing the game in a certain way.

You're right, but for arguments sake let's say they have no idea why their character stopped moving properly, or any of the other bugs that have been discovered.
Just playing devils advocate here, but I think they'd have to get a refund, unless somewhere on the box in really fine print it states that online access is required to be able to play the game.
Again, I know it's off topic, so I'll finish there.

So, out of curiosity after reading threads on this bug I went to check.
Yeah, I had it on Xbox, and I'm carrying it around from Act2. I suppose it happened when she left my part during one of her quests or when I tried to enter the qunari compound.

Could you give the name or a link of the savefile editor? I have Modio, but I guess I need something more?

So, to avoid more damage, now I have to save with Isabela always in party, to be sure in Kirkwall day? I would like to finish this playthrough while it is still playable...

The editors name is firstblight (http://www.xpgamesav...n-age-2-editor/ requires registration here, should be available elsewhere)
- you need v1.31 to change the attack speed.
Use "explore my device" in modio to extract save (option under large M in the top left corner).
To rehash/resign, drag the file back into Modio - NOT the device window - and a new window should pop up, rehash/resign then drag the file back to the device window and replace the existing file.

Does anyone know a quick and easy method to transfer my Xbox 360 saves onto my PC? 'cuz this Isabella bug is really ticking me off and I really don't want to reload a 20 hour old save to avoid the bug.

You need a USB stick (which you'll need to format in your xbox) and some software, Modio works fine.
My post above covers much of the rest but remember to make a copy of the save on your PC before modding just to be safe.
If you need any more help, come back and I'll try to assist.

I was able to fix this on the PC with a save game editor. Hawke's attack speed was -65. Spellcasting in slow mo was amusing for a bit - lol. Hope this gets fixed soon - I haven't been using Isabela or Sebastian in my party at all.

I'm not an expert on the subject, but maybe the lack of mod tools/editors has something to do with the system.  Isn't the PS3 supposed to be the worst/most expensivee to develop for?

Simply not using Isabella or Sebass at all avoids this glitch right. Or as long as i dont have their friendship passive ?

hi Mark B. I've followed your instructions but I'm getting a "The save file appears to be damaged and cannot be loaded." prompt when I try to load the modified game.

All I changed was the attack speed (from -45 to 0) on one file, which didn't work.
Afterwards I tried another file (backing this one up first) and changed it from -45 to 5. This also didn't work.

I rehashed the file before dragging it back into the usb stick like you said, so I'm not sure what's going wrong here.

You can use them to your heart's content if they don't have the friendship passive bonus.

My rogue attacks slower than 2h weapons in Origins right now, I couldn't even stand to finish even when I dumbed it to casual for the story, it's terrible. I'm purposely rivaling Isabela and Sebastian on my current playthrough because it's driving me crazy.
