One year in act 1 - 2 years

Three years skip - 5 years

One year in act 2 - 6 years

Three years skip - 9 years

One year in act 3 - 10 years.

The story does take place over ten years. Varric is talking about events that happened three years earlier... the "present" is ten years after the beginning.

Huh?  No.

After all, the point of the ending is that Hawke is missing.  Hawke vanished after the events of the final battle.  Nobody knows what became of Hawke.

If we play as Hawke during that 3 year span, we now know what happned to Hawke.

Which makes DA2 meaningless.

No, DA3 starts before Varric gets abducted.

the interrogation is happening 3 years after the end of the game. so hawke has been on the run for 3 years.
