I made a thread about this in the general forum but I would like to move it here as well for registered user discussion.

I was sad to see Sebastian is not useable for the first 20+ hours of the game while all other companions are.  It makes him scream "I AM A DLC CHARCTER" and it also limits playtime and usage of him.  I like him a lot more than Varric because of his speed and would rather use him in the early chapters.

I don't think it would be hard to patch.  Take the "I can follow you for a while" dialogue from his quest in chapter two and move it over to chapter one, then just allow him to be chosen on the companion screen.  He might not comment on any chapter one quests but it's better than nothing.
