General "common sense medicine":
1) Make sure Windows is up to date, along with your video and sound drivers
2) Run the Steam utility that verifies the integrity of your installed files
3) Monitor system temps-- DAO eats more resources than you think
4) Avoid overclocking and Intel's Turbo feature, if you have it on your CPU
5) Avoid multi-tasking programs and having too much loaded at Windows boot-up
6) Try lower graphics settings, both in-game and in your video card's software (Nvidia Control Panel or ATI Catalyst.

Q8400 Intel quad core at 2.6ghz
6gb Ram
GTX 570....
perfectly fine system specs...
I have the same thing...steam version of the game ultimate edition.
I've been playing through DA origins and I planned on doing DA2 right afterwards. For about a week now it's been fine...but a few days ago it gets this freeze issue you guys are talking about. After playing for a little while the game will freeze up for no apparent reason...and it makes no sense to me.
My graphics driver is 266.58 and that's the newest so I really am confused what the issue is. Also I've monitored temps and all that jazz but it still freezes. If anyone has any solutions that would be great.
Thanks

steam updates automatically when there is a patch
also make sure you check this post: http://social.biowar...8/index/6265850
its the only thing you can do about it til a patch comes out

haha dont make me laugh...seriously im bumping to support these people that are in need of the crashed fixed like i do. its bioware's product, its bioware's job. have you contacted EA? have you got an answer? if so please tell me
I've never had a significant issue with DLC. I had some performance issues, including some crashes, which ended up being an issue with the installation of my new video card and driver. So I've never had occasion to contact EA support. Others have and reported here that they've had success doing so.
And, as you say, it's ultimately EA/Bioware's responsibility to help the customer. I agree completely. Hence the reason why I occasionally suggest contacting them directly through their support website. This forum is populated entirely by gamers like yourself. I have not even seen a Bioware employee post here in the six or seven months I've visited. And, we've already been told by Bioware that there are no plans to patch the game beyond 1.04... a decision I do not agree with, but they shifted whatever resources they had towards the development of DA2 and beyond.
Of course, I have no right to object your support through bumping posts, and I don't. However, I maintain the right to offer my own suggestions from time to time.

...and your work is greatly apreciated. They should use your post to make a final patch.
