I'd like to set up a tactic so that Merrill and Anders will drop their big mana hogging sustainables after the fight so that they can start the next fight with max mana.  How do I set up tactics to do this?

I have Merrill set up to deactive Blood of the First when she's too hurt, but that's the best I've figured out.  I have Aveline set to deactive some defensive auras when she's not surrounded, but this won't work for my casters as they should not have any enemies around them during the heat of battle anyway.

I'm hoping to be able to stop manually switching to everyone and turning their stuff off after every fight so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Theres an option for number of enemies remaining. I've not played with it myself so i don't know if 0 is an option but i imagine it would be.

if you're looking for what i think you are, that would be "surrounded by no enemies" and "deactivate X"

Surrounded by no enemies is not perfect, since it could cause the ability to be deactivated in combat just because no one is attacking the mage at present. I would look into the "number of enemies remaining" option to see if there is a 0. That's the best option if there's a 0 available. If not, you can always turn them off manually after the fight is over, or set it to turn off if "Self: Health >=90%", since you will always heal to full at the end of combat. But of course with the health thing, this could lead to them activating it when combat begins and immediately deactivating because they aren't yet wounded. So you might have to set it to be activated when health is less than 90% to balance it.

Personally, I just leave those abilities active all the time. And for Merill's blood magic, I use Mana <25% to activate it and Mana >=75% to deactivate it. That way she uses mana until it's nearly gone and then switches to blood magic, and then turns the blood magic off after battle when her mana refills.

yeah, i feel like a dufus now. i was thinking from more of a melee perspective. that's one thing that's always been missing. proper conditions of tactics.. DAO had a lot of that, and they fixed most of them with DA 2, but there's definitely still a few more conditions that need to be addressed, such as this one.

Here's how I did it:

Set the last 2 lines of merril's tactics like so:

Self: At least one enemy alive -> Skip Tactics
Self: Any -> Deactivate mode Blood of the First

If you use "Enemy: target of [main DPS] -> Attack" as your normal last condition (as I do), it must go above these

EDIT: btw there is no "0 enemies alive" condition, hence the above

In general i really don't use tactics much, i prefer having the upper hand with all the chars on the battlefield. Also bc i often find the tactics to have fatal floors or missing stuff.

Here's my response to those above.

As stated, there isn't a "0 enemies alive" setting.

The "surrounded by 0 enemies" won't work as these are my casters who're usually not surrounded.

I played around with the "mana >= some level" but this wasn't effective because it's not "% of available mana left," but "% of total mana left." This means that if you have an aura that uses 50%, and you're out of battle, you don't have 100% mana, but you have 50%.

The "health >= 90%" won't work because it'll shut it off when I don't want it to (beginning of the fight, when they're not getting attacked, after a big heal, etc).

Viverravid, does that work for you? I'll try that when I get home. My fear is that it might miss it after the fight is over. I'd guess that if I have 15 tactics, and these are at the bottom, and there's 1 guy left, Merrill is using tactics 2 and 3 and the guy dies. After he dies, will it go through all tactics again and make it to the bottom and turn off the aura, or will it stop checking tactics as soon as the last guy dies? If it's the latter, then I'd think that it wouldn't make it down to tactic 15 to turn off the aura.

I came up with a cludge for Panacea that is only okay, but I guess it's better than having it always on (mainly since Anders can't cast offensive spells with it on). I did this:

(2 allies hurt) -> turn on aura
(2 allies hurt) -> group heal
(ally dead) -> turn on aura
(ally dead) -> rez
(self, any) -> turn off aura.

This allowed him to start the fight with it off and only turn it on when he needs it. He then turned it off after casting the group heal or rez. The problems are:
1. He turns it on, even if the rez or group heal are on cooldown and 2 people are hurt or someone's dead.
2. He can't have it on if I want the AOE regen (which seems pretty terrible so it's not a big deal to not have it on).

Actually, this brings up a related point that I've been trying to figure out. I've got tactics set up for Anders to use Aid Allies and Regroup, but nothing to turn Panacea on. Yet he still uses the abilities in battle according to the conditions. Whenever I have the presence of mind to check on him after he uses one of them, Panacea is off and not in cooldown. It seems like he just cheats with tactics.

for Sentox6 - Tactics are still a bit buggy. You might have run across one of those. There are others, such as talents still being there even though you've respeced the character.

for the OP: there doesn't seem to be a 'combat is over' tactic. given that combat is over, it shouldn't be too hard to flip through the characters to turn the sustains off.

Has anyone figured out how to activate a talent, for a DW rogue, based upon the chain being full? that's the most annoying one for me.

So far Merril disables her Blood of the First after every fight using the method I listed above. Done about 15 hours using it.

I think some tactics conditions run outside combat? Self: Any > Active mode tactics seem to apply immediately, combat or no. You don't get the visual effects, but the UI shows they are engaged,

This has worked like a charm for me.  They do work out of combat too.  If I have some active auras while I'm running around out of combat, and then I change tactics to those above, they'll turn off their auras after I've moved around for a few seconds.

Thanx for the help Viverravid!

20% Sustain
self : mana/stamina <75% activate Arcane Shield
self : mana/stamina >75% deactivate Arcane Shield
