 I noticed that certain robes will negate your skin tone in the game that you have chosen on a character and it will put your character in a default skin tone while wearing it.  My characters typically have dark skin tones but then I put on the "Robes of the Spiral Eye" and blam I look like I'm from Antarctica and never saw a ray of sun in my life.
