Somehow, I think all of these complaints wouldn't be here if it were just female S/S romances.

Yay, double standards!

I know, right? It's because no man would have a problem with it, and women that would have a problem with it wouldn't experience it..

Just don't godmod, people.

All you have to do is swing one way "straight" way, of course so don't bother with Bisexual option If you don't like it.

Also - if we're talking "traditional" or "old fashion".

I told Bethany, Isabela, Merrill, and Aveline to go back to the kitchen where they belong - because in medieval tradition, women didn't matter.

Fortunately - on behalf of all you beautiful womenfolk - I prefer a more progressive fantasy world.

My female Mage romanced Anders. Anders was completely heterosexual for her... he only showed a liking for the ladies. Same with Fenris, with my female Rogue. He was completely heterosexual, too. Granted, I wouldn't care if they showed a lack of gender preference, but neither one did, so it was never an issue of any sort whatsoever.

Knowing that all the LIs in the game are Hawkesexual and programmed to like Hawke regardless of Hawke's gender doesn't mean they're all bi.

~signed,
A completely heterosexual female.

Well said.

I'd draw you a picture of where Anders wants to couch you, but i'd get banned.

They seem to be punishing players for NOT pursuing homosexual relationships.

During Anders' first ambient conversation at his clinic you eventually get to a set of speech options. Two of them are flirting and the third tells him you're not interested. I got 15-25 rivalry points depending on what I said earlier for saying "No brah, I don't want your dick inside me." I reloaded multiple times just to see if you could avoid this and as it turns out, no, you cannot if you want to talk to Anders at all at his clinic.

MR445 - Anders is an evil, psychotic terrorist? Are you REALLY so made you did have "Blue Meter" Friendship?

I wanted that blue friendship bonus asap since he was my healer... So yeah, kinda. :(

Overall it didn't affect me much but I can see where some people wouldn't like it.

Don't you think you're overreacting just a little?  Anders went through all of the trouble of setting up a fantastic light show for you, and you don't seem to appreciate it.

Is it that hard to pretend they're actually straight? Not trying to sound rude but I had no problem pretending whoever I was romancing was 100% homosexual because nothing in the game contradicted that if you ignore metagaming knowledge.

And yeah, be prepared for the inevitable bi-phobia discussion.

Pretty much this. I didn't even realize all the LI's were BI until my second playthrough, because during my first Anders never mentioned to my femHawke that his door swings both ways. It's done in a way to be able to please everyone but without flaunting it. Except Isabella, but she's...Isabella.

Also add in the fact how many of us knew this on are first play threw. All most of us saw was "ohh a healer!".

While I play both male and female playthrough just to get the diffrent stories.  I allso do them as both straight and bi.  My problem witht he males is there almost allways...well pretty much bi-gay ish in action and speach.  Well we had Alister that was straight, so guess he's like DA2's Sebastion.  Isa is just a ****, but fun to play with.  Merl and Lie pretty much are the good girls.  I think Anders is a little better in this playthrough than in Awakens.

What allways ****** me off is the ones you can't romance.  I would love to be Aveline's love interst on my Male warrior playthrough.  So we basicly have no straight females and the the girls get one straight male. (even in DA:O the boys got Morrigan).

Now if ya'll can do a DLC with a female Quanari that you can romance....

As a progressive female this made me lol.

I understand people may have varying degrees of comfort with alternate lifestyles to each his/her own. Bioware can't win in this though because someone will always want the character they can't have to be romanceable.

I personally have a character for each option, that's what I like about RPGs they allow me to actually role play scenarios I would not encounter in the "real world"

Oh man, I totally need to apologize to Anders then. I didn't know that was for ME!

Oh crap - I stabbed him in the back, damn. (couldn't even give the man a proper beheading)

The bisexuality is only in place to ensure the player will enjoy the romance regardless of how they want to play it. If you romance Merrill with a female then for that game she is gay. Next time you play a male and romance her, she's straight in that 'reality'.
Frankly I was more upset that I couldn't just talk to Anders, he starts in hitting on you and if you tell him 'no' he gets all pissy and throws a hissy fit. He's too damn touchy. I would have prefered either an option to lock him into 'friend' zone or for him to not get all pissy with my Hawke just because he/she isn't interested.

Exactly, what you should have done was say "Well done mister mage!  What a fantastic display of fireworks!  I almost wish there were another Chantry we could laser.  You don't see that every day."

That's what I was thinking. Merrill was 100% straight in my game. She only seemed to love one person and that was Hawke.

I think it says a lot more about the OP than the game that they find their experience cheapened by the fact the relationships are equal on both sides.

Go romance that whiney bastard Sebastian if you want a straight man. I doubt many men will complain about the fact Isabella's open to thirds, fourths, and shrubberies.

Besides - science has made heterosexual sex no longer relevant.

We can just say the mages of Thedas did it too - yeah, everyone's free to bugger everyone else! Yay mages! Woohoo!

I guess that just makes him a realistic, over emtotional character. That's how I felt. I let him down, he told me off and after cooling down we were able to be pals. He is a real brat about it, but oh well.
