All credit goes to him/her. I am reposting this because I see people are still having this problem and haven't found the posted solution. Please make it sticky because this bug is gamebreaking.
In short:
1. Download save game editor from here: social.bioware.com/project/1936/
2. Open your latest saved game with daosavegame.exe
3. Go to field 42 called Animation_Speed_Modifier and set the second column to to 0, or 5 if you currently have Isabella's friendship buff. Save.
Similar for negative defence.
