I feel like this answer should be reallly obvious, but I am still in the dark... The blood on Hawke's nose, and his ability to reach through the fade and tear enemies limb from limb... are they actually in the game? I was excited to see him use the latter once in the beginning... but not again? Can someone please fill me in?

That was part of the legend, both in the trailer and a part of the original legend. The "Fade Ripper" ability does not exist as a spell as either gameplay or cutscene.

It does exist in the legend told by Varric in the beginning of the game as a mage, where you begin as a leveled, champion of kirkwall hawke... but both are merely made up by varric? I can accept that, but I would've enjoyed some context, explaining where he came up with the ideas and fit them into the story
