Err, you know you can use Maker's Sigh potions purchased in The Black Emporium to completely reset stats/abilities of whoever uses it (including your party members), right?

Varric is my favourite companion gameplay wise AND story wise. He is the epitome of awesome.

He's not useless, I just feel Sebastian is better and more versatile.
If Sebastian didn't have the 100% critical chance with Flanking and Guardian Angel, I would roll with Varric. Sebastian is more of a assassin.

Varric has great attack speed with Bianca's Song but Sebastian does more consistent damage if you get him in flanking position. He obliterates Assassins on NM mode, with his wounding arrow and arrow of judgement.

if you use 2 rogues, one can be a critical hit beast and the other for lockpicks (Although I'd stay at 30 cunning. There are barely any chests in Act 3 needing the 40). I had something like 75% critical hit chance with varric in act 3 and was hitting for 300 dmg or so each shot.

Okay, very noob question. I keep on hearing about black emporium.
It's a DLC, yes? I suppose I could buy it.

I kept pumping his dexterity and starting act 3 he had around 95% crit chance, one or two levels later his crit chance was 101%

I found Varric to be pretty awesome in my gameplay to the end. As a Warrior my favorite party consisted of Isabela (Melee DPS) Varric (Ranged DPS) and Bethany (Heals/Auras/Crowd Control) Isabela is just sick come on, her DPS is nuts and her evades have ridiculous potential as well. Varric is a very usefull friend to make as he provides alot of viable information during the storyline and many missions. As far as his combat ability I thought he delivered pretty consistant DPS and good crowd control if set up right. Concentrate on his Attack Speed, AOEs and Stamina regen to keep a steady stream of fire going. Turn him into Tony Montana of the Dwarfs with Bianca being his machine gun/grenade launcher.
