It obviously feels like an unfinished feature.

Something that was integrated at the last minute.

Either way, to me, it's a useless addition for the following reason:

1) It doesnt sell for anything. A few silvers for a stack of 30+ items just inst very encouraging to the player. Bump it up! Of course, dont break the overall "gold balance" but more gold would be welcomed.

2) The amount of junk versus the amount of real items you find is way too big. In my experience about 80-90% of the items you pick are junk. Since they serve no purpose at all, clearing a dungeon is having 40+ junk is just depressing. Even more so when you know for how little gold they sell for.

3) Create a purpose to junk items. Maybe an artisan in Lowtown who is quite adept at making stuff out of Torn Trousers and Diamonds. Special items, recipes and a bunch of unique stuff would be appreciated.

Please, no more junk loot. :-) It's annoying to be plowing around the map and the game and have to stop and run over to click on a random crate just to make sure I don't miss out on a drop quest... I don't mind the drop quests, but please make it so that all loot means something.

After playing the game I have the following observations:

1) I liked how items were seperated out into categories.
2) I liked how all the sell-me (Junk) items were in one category.
3) I hated Junk items! (it was a waste of inventory and not worth picking up)
4) If I was to redesign the Junk system, I'd change do the following:
A) I'd change the name to Valuables.
B) Get rid of all the "junk" items and only give valuable ones in loot.
C) Valuable loot would have a certain minimum sell value (any reward less than that amount would be in coins).
D) If there was a need for collecting quest related-items, then instead of putting the item in the Valuables section, I'd put it in the "Quest" section that didn't count toward inventory and couldn't be sold. (This wasn't a problem with DAII since the only collecting quest I remember was the Q swords).

I didn't really mind the junk - some amusing easter eggs there. Although I kept looking for pantaloons ;)

I'll put this here as it relates to loot and junk.

Just killed the High Dragon and while the loot drops from it were good, it also dropped 57 silver....i mean shouldnt they be dropping a few sovereigns atleast? :)

Why would anyone want to pick up torn pants, let alone buy them from me?

Hey as long as they're buying I am totally selling. This is the same principle as vendors buying torn furry ears and long shiny tails from you in World of Warcraft.

The thing is that junk has no gameplay purpose, since unlike weapons, runes etc., it can't be used. If the only purpose of junk is to be sold, why not replace it with money altogether ?

At first I liked the Junk feature... some of the items made me smile! A few of them are from DA:O. For instance, the first junk loot item I got was a Vial of Darkspawn Blood... hey, didn't I have to get that in DA:O's prologue? This is cool! And then I got a lot of various DA:O companion gift items as junk loot (Alistair's statuettes, Zevran's gold bars, etc.), and those made me smile.

But the smiles were vastly outweighed by meaningless junk. All the items with zero flavor text, zero description, zero reason for picking them up (sales price of 3 copper, WHY would I even bother??). Getting QUEST REWARDS that went into the Junk tab had to be the worst, though. 'Tome of the Slumbering Elders', a most valuable tome the Dalish had kept since the last Dalish dreamer! A useless 75 silver item with ...again, no descriptive text whatsoever. Oooh, feel the ancient worthiness of this special tome.

Sigh.

Exactly. <_<
