 For my first playthrough, I followed the strategy guide and managed to get the 1v1 Duel during the climax of Act 2. On this second run through however, I forgot to mention I killed some of his Qunari during the Sheperding Wolves quest, does this mean he won't respect me enough to duel me during the climax of Act 2 (serious issue for me, I really want the duel) or will gaining his respect throughout the rest of the quests be sufficient?

Did you tell him about the missing delegates? If so, you probably have enough respect.

DAMNIT! Maybe with the third character I'll get that damned achievement.

How do you know you have enough respect anyway? I thought we respected each other so much it was at the brink of a bromance, but I don't recall him offering a duel.

Huh. For some reason I thought you get the option to duel him no matter what.

My Hawke turned down the duel and massacred him and his men with my party.

I was a mage. I agreed to the duel twice...and both times died terribly. Finally I rejected the duel and took on the whole room of Qunari. Thanks to Avaline, Fenris, and Anders I was able to defeat him.
