Anders was my main healer. Once I got his quest for the chantry he then became no longer available as a character. Is that part of the plot?

My understanding is that he disappears when you enter the Chantry, then joins back after you talk to Elthina. One of us missed something.

I heard if you didn't finish his quest, he become unavailable. You need to talk to the high cleric until Anders come join you and finish the quest. If you didn't talk to the high cleric, you'll lose Anders. I heard it's a bug. You might want to reload a save and finish his quest.
