They all do though. I mean, Hawke stays with the respective LI, but it's not like we know what happens to them in the following years at all.

True, but it is slightly different.
I didn`t want to rant all over a new thread, but I´ve elaborated on it here, should you be interested:

http://social.biowar...4/index/6916929

With the others you don`t know exactly what happened to them, but they are still together and that´s fine.
Anders is a bit of a special case considering it isn`t exactly clear how much is actually left (if anything) of "Anders" by the end.

I'd buy it. Twice.

I really want a way to save Anders or at least help him redeem himself for what happened.

Not everybody killed him.

Some folks killed Leliana or turned Morrigan over to the templars, but that did not prevent Leliana's Song or Witch Hunt from happening.

In Leliana's case she got better through divine intervention (writers, since they couldn't think up another character to do the tiny job that Leliana had in DA2), and Morrigan has too many variables to be dealt with easily. As in she runs off with your kid, or runs off with a kid, or just runs off. Really the only way to solve it would be if we all could exist in quantum realities in which we could see the results of every major decision we made.

As for Anders, I'd love to kill him again, but there is an official dev response somewhere on the forums that Anders is dead dead. Like not getting better dead. Still, doesn't rule out that there could be a dlc, but it looks very slim that it will happen, for which I am thankful. Death to Anders!

Anders is "well" and alive if you didn't kill him, was the reply. Dead dead if you did kill him.

Hey, now, there's no reason to be nasty. (Edit: not pointed at nekhbet! You posted while I was typing.) I appreciate that Anders is not the best-loved character in the game, but there's no cause to slam him here. There are enough bloodthirsty "I hate Anders" threads already.

And yes, probability says that Anders fans will ultimately be disappointed when DLC dreams fail to happen. Is it really necessary to rub in some salt?

I wouldn't call it nasty. I'd say passionate. I just said that I'd love to kill him again. If you want nasty I could give it to you in fine detail, but as you say, there are plenty of threads with people on both sides.

Like I said, I hope there isn't an Anders DLC. Yes you can tell me, "well just don't buy it then," but then we get into the argument of canon, and Bioware has been really flimsy in declaring what is and is not the official canon of the game world.

DA2 Anders is the real Anders... people change when stuff happens to them, and Anders has had a lot of bad stuff happen to him.

1) Leliana's Song is only Leliana recounting her story to somebody, it doesn't even have to be the Warden and it doesn't even have a location in the timeline. It could have been before the Urn.

2) You can't turn in Morrigan to the templar, she's the only character which you can't kill or get rid of forever (she comes back for the Dark Ritual).

I don't see how having the DLC would have anything to do with canon.  In my canon, Anders is alive and well and DLC or the lack thereof wouldn't change that.  If he's dead in your game, then you don't buy the DLC and DA 3 or whatever can just assume the events of the DLC never happened.  There would't have to be an "official" canon, just a little extra to add to what's already there in our saves.

from one of heplers posts i gather that there will be a seb dlc. anders might have a cameo in that... or i hope as the companion who never left if hawke continues his/her story. i highly doubt that he will get his own dlc though; justice cannot be removed. bioware covered that

Hm, I hope not. If there has to be a Seb dlc, I'd rather not have Anders around to be his personal punching bag. I've managed to avoid the silly bugger so far, let's keep it that way. He wants to raise an army because you refuse to kill your friend / LI? I wish those who did download him had the option to murderknife him before he storms off in a huff.

I want a DLC where you and Anders are on the run from templar hunters, travelling vagabond with tents, doing stuff for the resistance ... :3

Anders DLC will be one of the first I will get if there's any DLC.
Only Bianca's Ballad, featuring Varric beats that one.

Unlikely to happen. The two previous companion-centric DLCs for DA were a prequel (that may or may not be a complete fabrication) and for the sole companion that you absolutely cannot get rid of. On the ME front, as much as it upsets me, that's also the same reason LotSB focused heavily on Liara while Ash and Kaidan were left out in the cold. Aside from her being a developer pet and such.

Anders has no such plot armor. Dead is dead is dead, unless you happen to die in a cavern absolutely swimming in lyrium and/or magical ashes.

If BW didn't intend Anders to be in any future content, wouldn't they have made sure he died in the game?

They could have created some great alternative endings if they had decided that Anders' demise was inevitable.

Not saying that they should have done this, I am very glad my Anders is alive and well.

Given that Anders could be dead or alive in future DLCs, my guess is that Anders' role will not be germane to future plot development, although his legacy will most definitely be. On the other hand, if Justice/Vengeance lives on in some form... hmm.

Anyway, in my mind Varric is just covering for Anders. Anders and Varric are great friends, I mean of all the people Anders could have chose to gift his keepsake from his mother... well, it says something.

I told myself the same thing about the Dark Ritual and the Old God Baby the Warden had with Morrigan. I'm still hoping that plays a role in a future DA game and debate ways it could happen, but at the end of the day it's unlikely to get picked up again except in a flimsy cameo. Same thing for Anders.

Aside from the whole "hope beyond hope he returns" thing, I rather hope he stays as dead as I left him.

We're all asking for our favourite character DLCs. (I, myself, would like a Fenris one), but both are most likely not to happen, as Mike said the future DLCs to be focus on the main character, not on our companions.
Too bad, I enjoyed playing Leliana's song and Witch Hunt (thought the latest was way too short)...

Sebastian is a DLC character, and seeing how things end... it could also mean that he'll be back in DA3. It's up to all kind of interpretation.

Ugh, I hope not. I haven't bought him and don't intend to - I won't buy Day 1 DLC on principle. So a DLC about a DLC would be rather pushing it :P

But back to Anders.... I have to admit I'd be very tempted to buy a post-game DLC on him. Even if the player killed him, it would be ridiculously easy to just go with Justice saving him (Anders' may have wanted to be martyred but it's clear Justice is afraid of death - so afraid he broke his own tennets to join with a living host). There's plenty of evidence to suggest that Justice could just use Anders' healing magic to save his host.

Either way, if he did die, his legacy is huge - he kickstarted a massive war, circles are falling across Thedas and the Chantry is losing its grip on the people AND the Templars. Even if we never see his face again, I'd be shocked if he doesn't get mentioned a lot in any subsequent games/DLC. I'd love to see some Kolgrim-esque mage cults myself lol.

Anders... short for Andraste... he was the second coming :bandit:
