Proposal: Anders DLC

I'd definitely buy it.
Anders is a Grey Warden and his time is severely limited. I'm not sure he'll be in DA3 if you let him survive depending on how long DA3 is set after DA2. 10 years pass in DA2 which basically gives Anders another 20 or so years, give or take. Who knows how being possessed would affect that though. DLC, on the other hand, should be possible providing it can be tailored to all players. Something like Witchhunt would be nice as some of you have mentioned.
Either way, I'd love the chance to set them both free somehow. The spirit of Justice belongs in the Fade, even he said so himself in Awakenings.

If you want to end his torment, kill him in DA2. Justice/Vengeance is free, Anders is put out of his misery, Hawke (if romanced and totally heartbroken) has a chance to heal.

As for the issue of him being dead on some peoples' game - I don't think it has to be an issue. Leliana could be dead in Origins yet she still got a dlc pack. People for whom he was dead could either load a different save, do the dlc with the default setting where he is still alive (see an alternative scenario - which I know most of you are not against because many of you seem to do several re-plays...), or they could skip that particular dlc.

Ok, I take your vote as a "no"
I respect your opinion, but the options "forgive or backstab" are just not enough for me, sorry... and given this is a game, not reality, I can try to ask for some more!

I would love an Anders DLC, especially if it had a lot of Fade in it. I didn't bother with the Morrigan and Leliana DLCs in the last game because I just didn't care about those characters. I certainly don't want to see Isabel and Merril DLCs...
Edit: Crashtec1 makes a good point that Varric could've lied about any number of the events or at least embellished them. He is a proven embellisher.

I loved him in Awakening but I found his romance in DA2 to be too dark. Or maybe I was just put off by the early flirt lines (they were awful) and his reactions. I feel like DA2 dropped the ball a bit because we didn't get to see any of the fun parts of Hawke's and Anders' relationship, just the doom and gloom.

Very unlikely that they'd make a DLC only available to some people. So unless Anders "gets better" I don't see it happening.
Anders would NEED to get better. Y'know less paranoid.....I don't think a lot of people would pay to have Anders keep doing his crazy like Act 3. I want him to get better. I loved his character pre-DA2 and even Act 1 but after that it all went downhill for me.
I still like him though~

i was under the impression there is no way to remove spirits from a possessed person unless they died, according to lore. so as much as i would like companaion dlc, i would say no, because i do not want lore breaking dlc.

Didn't we (or some of us) save Connor from a possession in Origins? It's been a while since I played that quest so I am forgetting the specifics as to why we were able to do so.

Lucky enough, lore is what writers decide, so they can change everything they want by giving a consistent explanation.
We have a chance to save Connors in Origins, I'm sure they could write something suitable for Anders too if they wanted!

I think that Anders was terrible only in Act 3, since the "Justice" quest.
In the DLC, Hawke could be his anchor for getting better, both as love interest or just for sparing his life and letting him flew with him/her. If we go for the "Hawke decided to kill him but he didn't die", he could rejoin him/her and ask for his/her help because he can't even die as long as Vengeance is with him.

I get the impression from a comment Jennifer Helper made that Anders wanted to die after his act 3 actions and I think in the writer's mind that this is canon. The witchhunt dlc was done because there was more story to tell and they were setting things up for possible future stories, but Anders story is done and they won't bring him back.
that said... if enough people request it, then EA may overrule them if they see a chance to make more cash

What about a DLC that takes place in the past, where Anders joins with Justice?
Personally, I want to save him, not to see how he doomed himself...

I would love this dlc but sadly I don't believe it'll ever happen.
I have the same feeling, but that doesn't mean I won't try...

Well... I don't know... what "more story to tell" was there? You just run after Morrigan with some new character you find around, the only interest thing you get is the book but you can't even read it... I thought you could at least get the book it in DA2 but nothing...[smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/andy.png[/smilie]

I'm not an usual forum frequenter, but I've just beaten DA2 and I was curious about how people reacted to Anders's behaviour. I read of people hating him for what he did, and people ready to forgive him.
Personally I liked the old Anders, even if he was way too similar to Alistair, but I simply love the new one. His romance is so deep it hurts, I must admit I cried when I found out he was cheating on me with the whole "freeing myself from Justice" thing, I cried because I wasn't able to save him from himself.
Hence my proposal: how many people would like to see some Anders-dedicated DLC, in which you can actually find a way to free him from Vengeance? Personally, I'd love it. Something in which I could go on a hard quest to help him struggle against the real thing that keeps him chained and finally be truly free (and maybe without dying the next moment)
We can consider this thread some kind of "online petition"...
Bioware would have my money in a heartbeat.

I have made this same suggestion on other threads. My number one request for dlc would be to join Anders on a quest to rid himself of Justice. And I would hope to be able to load my DA2 save as his love interest and further deepen our relationship. I longed for more conversation and intimate moments with him. But I am really rooting for him at this point to get rid of Justice and doing so would be very satisfying.
I also romanced Anders in my game and though I loved the way that was handled in DA2, I really wanted more from that relationship. As for DLC for him (more like an expansion or a direct sequel, really), I think a journey to separate him from Justice could really work, even if in some people's games they ran away together, Hawke let him live and he left, or he was killed (and didn't actually die).
To get Hawke's help in destroying the Chantry, Anders told him/her that he knew a way to separate himself from Justice using a ritual from the Tevinter Imperium. Now, we know that was a lie, but since Tevinter is ruled by mages and the restrictions imposed on other countries' mages never happened there, what if the Tevinter Magisters do know a way to separate spirits from a human? The journey could be take them across the Free Marches into Tevinter looking for that information. And since the game would shift to a completely new country, new companion characters could be easily introduced. Cameos of existing characters would be an almost given.
Since Anders is a mage and in Tevinter mages are revered, he doesn't have to worry about being arrested for that there. But I can't imagine that tales of the Champion of Kirkwall haven't spread at least to some degree, so Hawke would have to worry about being recognized and both of them would need to worry about being turned in to the authorities. So bounty hunters working for both Kirkwall and possibly the Chantry, the Seekers from the Chantry who want Hawke's help, maybe Qunari (in my game, I killed the Arashok), and even Sebastian and his army from Starkhaven (in my game, he vowed to hunt Anders down and kill him) would be after them. The chaos that ensues in the Chantry-run portion of the world after the events of DA2 would also be an obstacle.
Of course, I would love to have it end up that Hawke and Anders do find a way to separate him from Justice, but even if they don't, the journey would be poignant and cathartic. Of course, this is just my idea.

I'd also gladly part with my hard earned currency to purchase DLC involving Anders. Especially if it involves going into the fade. (Amusingly, I hated it in Origins. Awakening it was awesome, and in DA2 it was pretty damn cool thanks to having Justice there. Would have liked to see more of it.)
