I am completely unfamiliar with modding in DA2, but Ive seen other mods out there already where hair color and such were changed for the prologue entry and all that, so I know its able to be done.

I would like a mod that changes Isabellas skin tone to white instead of dark brown. Basically, one of the far left three spots on the char-gen maker before the skin starts getting darker.

Either that, or please help me understand how to edit this myself.

I am working on a pale revamp of Isabela as well, though I am starting with some armor color changes, wish I knew how she got it working, she did a great job.

Thank you VERY much. I have been looking for that for quite some time. Very much appreciated.

That's a great mod, but it needs a few more options.

Like a chin spike removal + bandana removal + one of the nicer female hair options (Hawke's mother has a good hairstyle).

Gotta ask, why do you want the skin color change?

Isabela is supposed to be darker skinned?

Different aesthetic appeal for different folk.  Not a big deal really.  Although, I do admit, Isabella works hard for that full-body tan :P.

I've left a comment in the mod there, the author forgot to mod Isabela's second armor(bdy_isab), so when she changes to that, she goes back to her original skin color, heh. Too bad I know nothing of image editing, else I'd do it.

they must have a tool to open erf file.  the dao one doesn't work; I believe it's not able to read 3.0v. The author clearly opened the file; can anyone point me in the right direction for the editor?

You need the gffeditor, open editor.exe go to File > Export and open the erf of your choice.

Also, I think they did a not-so-good job with Isabella's skin tone. It looks like someone made too many trips to the spray on tanning salon. It doesn't look very natural.

It felt way over the top - like the entire purpose was to change a character from Origins that was essentially "white" to non-white.

Bioware seems to have a very hard time designing character features that are exlusively not related to being white. Bone structure and facial features make a person what they are more than just skin-tone.

Turn Oprah Winfrey to an albino and you can still tell by her bone structure as well as the rest of her face and hair that she is still black.

The second post in this thread gives a mod that reflects this concerning Isabella. Im very happy this mod was made.

Yup, even for a pirate who is exposed to the sun pretty much all day while sailing, they tanned her a tad too much.

Agreed.

So for now, I'm hoping someone will release a mod for her that changes the skin tone while also giving her one of the many really nice female hair styles that doesn't have the bandana + chin peg.

Thanks, it works sometimes.  I've noticed it doesn't list the names if you open the main highrescharacterartfp or whatever file.
Like to give Isabela a make over... wish we had a toolset this is killing me.

Filenames are actually the files hash. If all you want is to give Isabela a makeover, it's easier to download the files from this mod and open those erf files with the gffeditor instead as they only have the appropriate Isabela's textures inside them to extract.
Remember that if you plan to release your changes as mods, give the original author proper credit. :)

All dark-skinned characters look like that. The same was true in Origins, unless you used Pineappletree's mods.

And as others have pointed out, Isabela's Rivaini, and is supposed to be dark. Since the Rivaini also have some notable cultural differences from the rest of Thedas, making her white isn't just changing her skin color.

Yeah the author kindly updated the mod with a few suggestions me and some other people asked. I asked for the original hair and eyes instead of the blonde. :)

true, how did you make your erf? I can make 2.5v but it's not reading it.

I'm trying to edit her skin to be more like that of DA:O, but a little more tan. She was on a ship after all, they get pretty tanned. I found her way too dark in DA2 compared to her DA:O version. I just can't figure out how to do it.. used Paintshop to manually edit the .dds files but didn't do much.

You can find isabela's armor/body files in the highrescharacterartfp.erf btw.  Just look for the hf_arm_isaa files.
