I'm planning out the team setup I want to use for my next playthrough, and I have a few questions and am seeking opinions on my proposed team.

Hawke as a Mage.  He's going to be a support **** basically.  However, I'm not exactly sure what I want to get, in terms of skills.  Haste is pretty much the only given.  Beyond that, I'm not sure what to get between Barrier, Petrify, Dispel, Horror, etc etc.  I plan on going Spirit Healer and the second specialization is kinda up in the air.  I plan on getting all the base talents in Spirit Healer, while only upgrading Group Heal and the +50 HP Regen on the Sustained.  I'm figuring Elemental will be his main DPS tree, so I can set up CCC for the two Rogues.

Sebastian and Varric both.  Both will basically max out their specialization trees.  Both will get Blindside.  Both will nearly max out the Archery Tree.  Beyond that, one will be getting Sabotage talents whereas the others will be getting Scoundrel talents.  (Isabella will likely replace Sebastian for Act 1)

As for a tank, Fenris will be my guy this time around.  The build is obvous here.

The questions I want to ask are:
  • Is Glyph of Repulsion/Paralysis good...?
  • Do Sebastian and Varric scale the same stat wise, or are they different?  (EG Seb is better w/ Cunning whereas Varric is better with Dexterity)
  • Does Elemental Weapons work on ranged weapons?
  • Which Specialist tree should I get for the two Rogues, if any?  Is there any detailed math anywhere listing the benefits of each tree?
Beyond that, anyone have advice or opinions?  Tips?

I played a spirit healer with force mage. Force Mage has some great support/crowd control spells, with the addition that you can cast them while Healing Aura is active, as they're not considered offensive spells. It'll help when you someone peels aggro before they're supposed to.
