My advice is to support any indie company you come across that has a game you find interesting, because honestly only they will bring change to a dismall world the current gaming market is in.

Good advice.  CD Projekt is one I'll always heavily support (pre-ordered the edition of Witcher 2 for $129).  Though I've never bought from there before, Bethesda seems like another developer I'll be supporting.  Checked out Skyrium and it looks interesting enough to give them a shot.

And now thanks to Bioware's screw up, Skyrim (another abomination) will easily win GOTY or at least RPG of the year.

Ok I get it you dont like Elder Scrolls games and that is your opinion but face it until you have tested / played the game you have no idea what you are talking about, you talk up a storm but your topic has no weight,  I at least will reserve judgement until demo / game is released and then make an unbiased opinion of the game.
As for GOTY well its only March with many strong contenders due for release this year, atm its anyones guess what will lead the way

Deus Ex is a unknown for me, its been a long time and who knows if the dev team on it will do a good job. ES5: Skyrim is likely to give ME3 a run for RPG of the year, but who can say which will win out. The Witcher 2 I don't really expect to win alot of awards, though it will likely be good.

GotY will likely go to one of the big shooters due out this year.

The Witcher 2 looks to be the front runner for goty so far.

As good as the Witcher 2 is, that won't happen.

RPG of the year, maybe. It's really between Skyrim and the Witcher for that one. ME3 might get it too, only if BioWare hasn't screwed that up like DA2.

After being witness to the hack job of DA 2, I don't have enough confidence in Bioware any more to tout any of their titles as GOTY candidates.

You can hardly say who's going for GOTY award in March...most promising titles come out by the end of the year or at least after summer thus you can't decide who's going to make it; I'd say that the Top 3 will be Mass Effect 3, The Witcher 2 and Skyrim - Witcher 2 is unlikely though as it does not have a big publisher behind so I'd go for Skyrim.

I mean, seriously. Open world RPG in the cold north, fighting dragons? You can't screw that up.

We DO know, however, that Dragon Age: Rise to Power is far from actually getting that award.

Okay folks - this is WHY you give Bethesda the benefit of the doubt:

Skyrim began pre-production shortly after the Xbox 360 release of Oblivion in 2006, production began in 2008 after the release of Fallout 3. Skyrim retains the traditional open world gameplay found in the Elder Scrolls series. The player is free to roam the land of Skyrim at will. Within Skyrim lie five cities, and expanses of wilderness and mountainous ranges. When visiting cities, the player can complete activities such as cooking, farming and mining. The player levels up by raising skills, and doing so allows for better items to be bought or looted from dungeons; it also increases the strength and variety of wilderness monsters. Eighteen skills are present in Skyrim, and the class system from Oblivion has been removed. Perks are skill-specific abilities, organized in a system of branching groups called "skill trees". Each rise in level allows for another perk to be picked. There are 280 perks, which are balanced between approximately 50 levels; although the theoretical maximum level depends on the character's skill choices.

There are five cities?! mountain ranges?

They took out the class system from oblivion?!

Just from the information that I listed - skyrim looks to be a great contender (if not the front runner) for the most GOTY awards.

At-least A. Bethesda stll listens to their fans. B. they still continue to work and build their games through development cycles longer then 2 years. and C. continues to build HUGE world's where players can roam free.

How many games/game companies do you know that STILL do that while providing good graphics (for the uber graphics crowd)?

Bioware used to be on that very short list. Doesn't look like they will return to it either.

I've seen both CG and game footage and it looks amazing. Love the story concept too.

But will it feature a scaling system? the creature scaling anooyed the crap out of me in Oblivion. If I have a hard time in a RPG I like to go out, level, gain some better gear, and then take on whatever was giving me problems. In  Oblivion that was not only impossible, but at times made it even more difficult.

For sure we can say Skyrim will be better than F3 - since it's technically impossible to make worse game than it. Then again people thought the same about Oblivion before F3 released ;)

But yeah I'm pretty sure that with the number of journalists wetting themselves whenever they hear word "sandbox" Skyrim will be huge contender for Goty but hopefully TW2 or DE3 will stop it.

DA2 with metacritic sinkinging to 81 for x360 version is out of that race already.

I'm am a Bethesda fan ( only recently ), and to be fair:

I haven't encountered any game-breaking bugs in their game. I guess I tend to be lucky about not getting many bugs, or maybe it's because I take my time with games and new patches get released, but still, the worlds in Bethesda games are MUCH larger than in Bioware games, significantly so.

Some bugs are expected.

And 6-hour storyline? Man... plus the combat was great fun in Fallout 3, I expect they'll take some improvements and put them in Skyrim. Things like perks and finishing moves have been confirmed, I think.

I can't tell whether you're a troll or a troll parody.  I believe that means you win.

The Witcher, buggy version, still garnered plenty of awards, and was in serious contention for 2007 GOTY due to its immersion and many other factors.  Had CD Projekt released the Enhanced Edition right out of the gate, it would most likely have been game of the year.  After seeing the changes they've put into the Witcher 2 (http://www.thewitcher.com), it's going to be one of the heavyweight games of 2011.

Listen to this guy, he knows what he's talking about.

@OP: How's Skyrim? Seeing as how you played it already. Will I finally be able to enjoy and finish an Elder Scrolls RPG from Bethesda? I tried loving both Morrowind and Oblivion but couldn't, their sterility made me lose interest. So? Tell me OP, 'cause I only saw a trailer and read some previews and so far it looks I actually might enjoy it.

I lol'd IRL. Combat great in Fallout? The combat was based on FPS shooter and poor one at that. VATS system sucked as well.
