This game = reason why Skyrim will take undeserved GOTY

But will it feature a scaling system? the creature scaling anooyed the crap out of me in Oblivion. If I have a hard time in a RPG I like to go out, level, gain some better gear, and then take on whatever was giving me problems. In Oblivion that was not only impossible, but at times made it even more difficult.
I agree with you to an extent. I think there WILL be some of it here BUT per the information that I listed, I think they realized that they shouldn't do it for every NPC that you fight.
The reason why I say that is because as you level you'll be introduced to more creatures who will still give you that challange so that you can still go back and mes up what-ever NPC first gave you trouble.
Obviously I can't say it for 100 certainty but I would hope that is the case. In any event - it's not going to be a perfect game. There will be flaws and things that you won't like about it BUT - I can say for certain that they are returning to their roots and allowing players to make MORE choices rather then less choices (whereas most companies today like to streamline things.).
I can't help but feel good that they took off the 'class restrictions' to give us more flexibility. I think skyrim is really our only/last hope for a true RPG story/character driven game where you are free to roam. I can't imagine good old Bethesda pulling a Bioware because THANKFULLY they aren't owned/controlled by EA. Instead it's all in-house with Bethesda Softworks doing the publishing.

Bethesda can release their usual crap full of bugs, 6 hour storyline and crappy combat and they'll still have nerds praising it to high heavens. Because DA2 was epic fail and made for console kids, this disgraceful game will take the RPG crown away from EA corrupted Bioware. It's saddening. Dragon Age: Origins demolished the competition and made JRPG weeaboos run for the hills. It was a classic for true gamers and hardcore PC fans. THE RPG of the 2000-2010. DA2 will be forgotten as soon as something new comes out and it can certainly forget about getting any awards. Bioware sold out.
That's truly amazing that you can predict that this game will be "undeserving" before it's even out! Really, WOW! I'm just assuming that all of these posters who hate DA2 so much will be moving on to play "better" games, and we won't be seeing them on this forum much longer. We will miss you.....not.

According to metacritic pokemon black/white has already beaten DA2 (87% vs 84%). Go firepig and smugleaf!

I get the feeling that the OP is one of those people who's used to a BIG RED ARROW pointing them in the direction of their quest and thus cannot handle the awesomeness of an epic, open world. (see: Morrowind, Daggerfall) All's fine though, even if Skyrim wasn't around, there are plenty of other games that, at this stage, seem to blow Dragon Age 2 out of the water.
Morrowind was anything but epic. You only needed a couple of hours to realize that the game is pointless and goes nowhere. It was a bunch of recycled landscapes, same monsters, uninspired NPCs and pointless quests. The game was horrid and still got a lot of praise. It's mindboggling. And now thanks to Bioware's screw up, Skyrim (another abomination) will easily win GOTY or at least RPG of the year.
Blasphemy! Elder Scrolls and Bethesda Games (as well as Obsidion's New Vegas) were fantastic game that deserve a 9.5, the same as DAO.

IGN gave Mass Effect 2 GOTY even though they rated Red Dead Redemption and Super Mario Galaxy 2 higher.
Review scores represent usually just one opinion out of many at a game publication.

Woah now, Morrowind and Kotor are the reasons I play RPGs. Morrowind's main quest line was great.

I'd say Uncharted 3 and Mass Effect 3 are the early front runners, since they are sequel of well loved past GOTY winners. I'm personally hoping Arkham City will be the sequel that AA deserves.
maybe its just me but i find people donty like to dish out awards to the same franchise in consequetive years i think major awards will go to franchises that havent been releasing recently

Skyrim will be a great addition to this year's RPG collection, as will be Witcher 2, I'm sure of that.
Also, funny how people call Morrowind the "roots" of TES.

I think DA2 had better marketing than Origins. The trailor for Origins though, was far better than the one for DA2.

I have played it, I just happened to glitch through the floor and end up in a black abyss while playing it, or ended up with the game breaking glitch right before the very end (I had it on day of release) and it was a long time before that bug got fixed.
I can safely say I'm pretty mixed between Kotor 1 and Dragon age: Origins for my RPG 2000-2010, both are my favourite bioware games and unfortunetely Dragon age 2 is more like a reboot of Origins, shame really.

Mass Effect 3
Gears of War 3
Those threes will make it difficult for Skyrim to be GOTY.
