I'm totally with you on that, I really think Bethany is an underated companion.  I was a sad panda when I lost her from my party during the first play through.  Aside from not having a spell to raise the dead she's pretty much everything you need in a supporting mage.  Mechanics aside I thought she was a great level-headed companion and a good friend to Hawke.  Jealous angsty Carver however wasn't my favorite but I can still appreciate the idea of Warden-ish DLC with either sibling.

Thankfully your not alone on this.  I'm not sure exactly what they have planned but it would probably be in their best interests ($$$) to carry romances into any Hawke related DLC.  Just sayin...

While playing I also thought to myself that varric was skipping years that could, as mentioned, be dlc. Whether it be the last 3 years or the ones after the deep roads etc. . .

I'd be so for this,

The fact that Varric tells the story allows a loophole, if the sibling didn't get wardened varric can just say "This is what would have happened," and imply the story is purely fictional.

Everyone can play the DLC since nothing in it actually connects with the Hawke's story.

Another sibling DLC could be their first year in kirkwall. Maybe have a quest where a templar finds mage-hawke/bethany and carver/non-mage-hawke has to protect them (maybe murder/bribe/befriend said templar). We can get a LOT of sibling character development out of this. I'm sure carver isn't quite the ass he appears to be when crud hits the fan. Bethany and hawke can really show just how close they are.
