Judging by its reception on the internet (see metacritic, reddit, Amazon’s sales charts, and any game forum for people’s opinions on the game), it is clear that Dragon Age II has been a PR disaster for Bioware. A lot of people have lost faith in a company that at one point could do no wrong. I know that I personally will never pre-order another Bioware game that isn’t called Mass Effect 3. Simply put, with the launch of DA2, Bioware has lost a lot of its luster. Let’s not kid ourselves about this.
So now the question remains as to how Bioware will respond. Should they own up to their mistakes and release a fix pack that addresses some of the issues people have about the game? I'd imagine that at the very least, such an update should retool the game to get rid of all of the recycled environments, replacing them with new, unique ones, as well as fix many of the bugs in the game. Perhaps get rid of the junk loot system that serves no purpose other than to take up inventory space until you reach the next shop. Releasing such an update would go a long way towards mending Bioware’s now-tattered image in the eyes of consumers.
Is such a thing too much to ask for? Many lesser studios have done more for their fans. I think Bioware should seriously consider such an action before inundating us with loads of dlc that do nothing to address the fundamental problems of this game.
Discuss.
