man why arent people creative everyyear a SHOOTER game wins game of the year.
i meen bioware has been working on this game scince 2004.
uncharted 2 and modern warfare 2 are nothing but generic shooters with flasy graphics and explosions that were crafted in like 5 months. its tottaly unfair

COD MW2 has about 4 hours of gameplay via the campaign, after that it is a bunch of mindless killing.....over and over.......I don't see how that makes it a great game.

You have to understand that the majority of the player base come from a lazy generation. All the gamers want instant gratification now and will settle for nothing less. I cannot even imagine what todays gamers would do if WoW played like original EQ. I would love to see their reactions though. lol

Yeah, because every final fantasy where you hit the summon button nonstop was unique and beautiful. They needed more 9/10's from reviewers, damn it! Final fantasy/RPGS where you hit attack nonstop! Hell yeah! Grind that experince... grind it good...
Really though, what is better? Green or red? I think it's time we, as society, stick up for green. Red? Equal? Absurd!

As for title game of the year 2009?
Personly I would consider Dragon Age, Assasin's Creed 2 and Empire total war as valid nominees. These games arent simple sequels or such, they are different from others, each of them made by people that know their craft and their devotion shows in their games.
I cant speak yet for Assasin's Creed 2, but so far my impressions are very good, its not going to be a simple sequel and the first installment was already quite a unique experience unlike any other.

yes most rpgs center around that kinda plot of your the chosen one save the wolrd
but at least they are always unigue
like in oblivion....YOU WERE NOT the chosen one, martin was and you were simply helping him.
in mass effect, you were NOT a chosen one or anything. just a soilder on a mission
in shenmue, you were just trying to avenge your father
in borderlands......well...ok in borderlands you pretty much just blow everything up LOL

GDC awards are the only ones that matter. Everything else is run by advertisers.
2009: Fallout 32008: Portal2007: Gears of War2006: Shadow of the Colossus2005: Half-Life 22004: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic2003: Metroid Prime2002: Grand Theft Auto III2001: The Sims
Gears of War and maybe Metriod are shooters, and both were probably deserving. So just take it easy. This game has as good a chance as any.

examples are in 1978 when STAR WARS a revolutionary epic lost to driving miss daisy
or in 2007 when a horribly ended movie like no country for no men one the award and not 300 or juno
or last year when gran torino lost the award to slumdog millionare
and this years either district 9 or star trek deserve the osacar award but they will lose to a stupid chick flick movie

Any publication that tries to call the PC version of MW2 "GOTY" lose all credibility as far as I'm concerned.Phoduric wrote...
Tis true that COD:MW2 most likely will get overall GOTY. I do think DA:O will get PC GOTY considering the butchered PC version of MW2. However, I would not be completely upset if Uncharted 2 gets GOTY. It was an amazing game worthy of the title.

Geez... Ive played WoW since beta, and played EQ for 4 years starting in beta... I have to agree with ya. Imagine if everyone wiped on KT and all thier gear stayed on thier corpse and had full respawn. Guess ive become lazy too tho cause im too old to want to wait for another guild to help... 3 days later =P
