That said, I really couldn't care less about all of the Game of the Year nonsense. So, some silly magazine declares some game OMFGGameOfTehYearLOLOL111! So now the publisher releases a GOTY edition of their game so they can re-sell the same game again with some "free" DLC. It's all pretty meaningless if you ask me. It has more to do with marketing than recognition of high quality. *cough*thegrammys*cough*

Remember too, GOTY is a very biased award given by game websites. It is NOT voted by players, it is just another article the publication feels and decides. At the same time most of those websites simply love to all jump into a bandwagon, namely the recent PC version of MW2, which has a metacritic of 90%+ and an average user vote of 50%.

u and every other subsriber should know that every time a bioware game is made it is absolutly revolutionary
and upcoming titles like mass effect 2 and the old republic will only continue to prove that

Just FYI - saying things like, "every game from company X is always categorically stellar" doesn't lend much credibility to your statement. You might as well start your post with, "I'm a really devoted fan of company X and my perspective completely lacks any kind of objectivity, but..."UBER GEEKZILLA wrote...

you do have a point inhuman one oscars are 80 percent of the time awarded to movies no one like
examples are in 1978 when STAR WARS a revolutionary epic lost to driving miss daisy
Heh - Star Wars was nominated in 1977, Driving Miss Daisy was nominated in 1989.
or in 2007 when a horribly ended movie like no country for no men one the award and not 300 or juno
300 wasn't nominated - and wasn't a great movie anyway. No Country for Old Men was a great movie.

After playing the game for some time, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the writing, the voice acting, the great companion characters that are very well developed, and most importantly the story. Frankly, the game is wonderful so far, and I haven't played a game with such a focus on quality and attention to detail in ages.
Here's hoping it gets the recognition it deserves. Also, lets hope for some great expansion packs.

but your right i was wrong bout the whole driving miss daisy thing i ment annie hall won the oscar of 1978 i confuse the 2 for some odd reason
and 300 was awsome cuz it was a true story was visully amazing and the acting for the characters was great. i will admit though its not as good as braveheart or Gladiator

Ripping on MW2 for being generic is fair enough, but then adding unlike Dragon Age, is just daft

MW2 PC version: 88 / 100 metascore and 1.7 / 10 for user review... which is 88% and 17% respectively.

From what I've seen and heard, DA:o looks like a well done game. But I still haven't seen anything that is innovative.

i will admit kungfusam dragon age isnt the best game ever infact i think mass effect is biowares best game so far but you got to admit even though the typical medeval fantsay setting in rpgs is extremly common dragon age is still quite creative with its massive back story and charcters and vioce work. and i do belive that it is one of the more intense and darkest games ive seen

Agree with this, although if you think about it, Modern Warfare 2 had huge potential for storytelling. It didn't have that typical Sci - Fi shooter elements or Fantasy RPG stuff.

Game's no longer win on excellent storytelling. It's a sad fact. Ever since gaming started to appeal to the masses and not a niche community, it's been vaunrable to the cracks of biased and uninformed opinion. Just like voting.
Video games aren't really about stories, sure they can add alot, but so can good graphics, sound design ect...
No video game should win a goty because it has a good story, it should be about the game

Yeah, No Country For Old Men was absolutely the best picture that year. If you didn't get the ending that's fine, but it's not the film's fault. 300 was fun, but nowhere near Oscar-worthy IMO.UBER GEEKZILLA wrote...

Also, Mass Effect was a neat game, but the RPG system was incredibly shallow, and much of the game was fairly repetitive. Dragon Age has a lot more depth to its gameplay. Then again, I've been gaming since the early '80s when content and gameplay were king and pretty cinematics didn't exist, so...maybe I'm biased.
Opinions are fun, eh?
