The upcoming expansion would deserve it more than the game itself seeing how it actually features new gameplay. Dungeon crawling in the sims. Sadly it will be made too childish.
I am already hoping that someone will make a mod to make sim-fu include fatalities.

My g/f plays alot of JPRGS - and this game kind of one ups all of them handily. Its got the tatical fighting of the best of them - along with a more coherent story and better voice acting. Bravo..
There are some minor issues no one talks about (I don't think you can scroll back enough on the view) and the interface is inferior to say WoW's.. but its a great game I think.
As a fan of the genre you have done all you can by buying the game..That's the only way to get them to make more. That's why it kinda pains me to see people savage this game for ridiculous reasons like the "scaling" system (which works great) or how it isn't as good as this or that obscure RPG..

As long as I like this game, I couldn't care less if it's "game of the year" or gets a 10/10 or whatever ... I made my mind up already.

And I personally hate to see overrated tripe getting lauded and celebrated over better and more deserving products. It just doesn't seem fair. Especially when it means there are mediocre titles out there getting merchandise and cool stuff released for them (such as toys, novels, comics, encyclopedias, etc.) while better games are not.

i happen to be one of the few teenagers who is into rpgs but most people my age ive met are into shooters and hate rpgs.
when i ask them why they hat games like DA and love MW 2 they just say stupid things like
oooo modern warfare real. oooo dragon age is fake.....ooo dragon age is too hard....oooo u suck if u hate modern warfare
its soooo anoying to see people wasting their lives on a sequel almost EXACTLY like the first and say its the best game ever

you do have a point inhuman one oscars are 80 percent of the time awarded to movies no one like
examples are in 1978 when STAR WARS a revolutionary epic lost to driving miss daisy
or in 2007 when a horribly ended movie like no country for no men one the award and not 300 or juno
or last year when gran torino lost the award to slumdog millionare
and this years either district 9 or star trek deserve the osacar award but they will lose to a stupid chick flick movie
Gosh Dern it, i am tired of people complaining about the ending to No Country for Old Men, it was an amazing movie, not all movies need to end hapily and everything doesn't always have to be resolved all neat and tidey like.
I personaly like all types of games, RPG's being my favorie of course, but if the game is good, its good, not all games need to be inovative or have epic stories to be fun, sometimes i want to just turn on a game and shoot stuff for an hour or Beat the crap out something a la Street Fighter.

Well said. I remember how many people whined about the ending to that movie. People always complain when anything requires them to actually *gasp* think. instead of tying everything up in a neat little bow.
You want to hear a movie that illustrates this perfectly? Shawshank Redemption. Go back and watch it again and think how absolutely effing PERFECT the ending would have been if they would have ended it in the bus as Red was making his speech about hope. It summed up the entire movie PERFECTLY. Instead, they had to put that damned last scene in there. I guarantee you it was the studio that mandated that just to avoid the type of firestrom we saw with NCFOM. That's why movies (in Hollywood anyway) generally suck these days.
As for Gran Torino, not only should that movie not have won an Oscar, it shouldn't have been nominated. If Clint wasn't directing, it wouldn't have been.

DA won't win game of the year because the graphics aren't slick enough - and people don't like old school RPGs as much as they should. But its actually like the game of the decade from what I can tell..

Imagine if the movie ended after the Warden ripped the poster off the wall, then the next scene it was just him complaining about how hard it is being a warden and that he's just going to retire. Roll credits. Oscar bait.
I have no problem with ambiguous endings. I have a problem with switching gears 2/3rd of the way through the movie. I have a problem with derailing what could have been the best thriller since The Shining and turning it into Barton Fink.

If you're going to say something like that you have to list some other RPGs with better combat systems and why. Otherwise you're just trolling.Schyzm wrote...

every other rpg bioware has ever made, every rpg blizzard has ever made, every rpg squaresoft has ever made. I suppose to be honest I haven't played all of them, but I've played a decent number of them. and this is by a huge margin the worst, and its even more offensive that its so bad in 2009.

The combat is virtually identical to every other RPG Bioware has ever made except Mass Effect and Jade Empire...neither of which had tactical combat...unless you consider, "I like to do this move, and then this one afterward" tactics.Schyzm wrote...

Blizzard has made exactly one full-on RPG ever, so I don't really understand that comment. Why not just say "WoW"? I don't consider Diablo an RPG, but even if we call it an RPG for the sake of argument it doesn't have tactical combat. I'm also failing to see how SquareSoft's RPGs have combat that is somehow "more tactical" than DA's. Can you back this up with some specific points? At this point you're not making much of an argument.
I'm not arguing that DA has the "best combat evar," I'm just playing devil's advocate because I don't understand where you were coming from with that post.

Except in this case, the movie was based on a book and the filmmakers did a good job of telling the original story on film. This is they way the author intended the story to end. Don't blame the filmmakers...blame the author if you didn't like it.
I simply have no clue why anyone had any issue with it. The bad guy didn't get his. It happens every day in real life but for some reason, when it happens in a movie, particularly in North America, people get insanely angry. .

I'm not saying people are stupid and I'm not trying to come off as a pompous ****** here. Of course everyone has their own taste in movies and that's fine. But I remember the firestorm about this movie when it came our and I just didn't get it. People were actually saying this movie sucked just because of how it ended when it kept me on the edge of my seat for the entire movie. That's something that so rarely happens these days. I think it's fine to say it sucked if you genuinely didn't like it. That's your opinion. But most people said "I loved it until the final scene...now the entire movie sucks". Huh?

you can "not consider diablo an rpg" till the cows come home, its classed as an rpg. and its combat is vastly superior. I think I might have played jade empire for like 40 minutes, it was almost certainly superior but I suppose it might have gotten broken later in the game.
dragon age's combat isn't tactical because doing anything tactical is pointless. the only tactic is nuke everything with mages. everything else is being intentionally dumb. that's about as bad as a combat mechanic can get. and even if that doesn't convince you diablo 2 is almost a decade old and its melee units have vastly vastly superior abilties to the jokes that are warrior/rogue abilities in dragon age. dragon age warrior and rogue abliities are so awful that there are numerous fourth tier abilities that are actually inferior to auto attacking....and I"m being LITERAL, you should auto attack instead of use them.
