While watching a DA2 developer diary they showed a map. It zoomed out, and showed Fereldan to the south east. Orlais to the north west OF Fereldan, Free Marches (Where Kirkwall is) was too the north of Fereldan and the Tevinter Impirium (spelling) was to the far North of the whole map. And there were other places, but i dont remember the names. (EDIT: Just read the name of this land is called Thedas)
After playing DA2 and seeing the map (of Thedas), I realized that, while DA2 was less satisfying than DA:O, DA2 now feels more like a set up for the coming parts in the series. Seems like the next parts of the game will be taking us all over this "map". We started in Fereldan (would love to go back), went to Free Marches (kind of, only really stayed in Kirkwall), and next we might go to Orlais, or another part mentioned in the series so far.
My prediction is that, throughout the series we will be introduced to different heros, hear the tales of previous played heros (The Grey Warden, and now Hawke), and learn of their deeds, and once we are done with that game, the next game will talk each previous hero, etc, etc. until we come to the final game or games, where you hear how it all started, the heros of this land (that i dont know the name of) and you are the final stand. And if some of these heros are still alive, you can either group with them, or just see them as NPCs fighting along side with you.
The main threat in DA:O were the darkspawn and the archdemon. The main threat in Kirkwall was a corrupted Kirkwall itself. The 5th blight was defeated in DA:O, so I am assuming that this big land place where this is all taking place, has had previous blights, not just in Fereldan. Even though the blight/darkspawn was not the main enemy in DA2, I feel that there will be another blight, and that the darkspawn are the main enemy of the whole series. DA2 kind of threw me off by not having the darkspawn be the main enemy.
The darkspawn will probably return with an even higher enemy than the archdemon. I dont know, considering the ending of DA2 when the seeker is looking for Hawke, seems like she needs him. She already found Lelianna and perhaps later, we will look for the Greay Warden/Morrigan and the baby, to help fight this bigger threat that we probably dont even know about yet.
These are just my thoughts, and speculation. After my first play through of DA2, i was disappointed with the story. But then after thinking about it for a couple days, i love it now. I see what BW is doing. And for all of you people out there that were also disappointed with DA2, i bet you will be in for a treat later on in the series. This is just the beginning.
Oh ya and BW i dont like what you did with Mother/Leandra. That was just wrong ha. Looking forward to plot DLC and DA3.
Where to next? Where I think the story is going.

I assume that Dragon Age III will not take place in Ferelden or the Free Marches.
This could mean:
Anderfels
Antiva
Orlais
Navarra
Par Vollen/Saheron
Riviani
Tivinter
There was actually another country introduced in DA II that I've forgotten the name of.

I think DAIII will have to do with whatever the Grey Wardens found so much more important than saving Kirkwall from a Qunari attack.

I think it'll be the Templar/Mage war interrupted by the Grey Warden problem. DAO had two conflicts, DA2 had two as well. I expect the same of DA3.

Orlais
Has to be.
Wardens going to Orlais
Bodan going to Orlais
Alistar going to Orlais
Pretty much anyone saying they are going someplace, it's Orlais.

If it's Orlais then I am definitely not getting it.
There is simply no way I could stand hearing that god-awful accent for more than a few minutes.

I'm guess you go to Orlais as well.
As to where it's going to end, I'm thinking total war.

Sadly I have to agree. Those accents grate on my nerves after awhile.

Honestly Orlais might be the more obvious choice but I so badly want to see the Tivinter Imperium. Since it ends off you seeing the seeker and her guards walking off after you finding out just what the worlds conflict is. I would figure the whole "OVER THROW THE TEMPLARS" Thing would come from tivinter seeing as they like power and are among the most power hungry and....down right awful people.

While allot of direct hints pointed to Orlais, I wouldn't discout Nevarra from the mix either. It's centrally located between Orlais, Ferelden and the Free Marches. And it doesn't have the requirement of heavy accents from most of the NPC's.

There did seem to be a lot of suggestion about Orlais, especially from Alistair as king. I would like to see more Grey Wardens in the next one though--they DO stay busy when it's not a blight, right? I also want to see more Fade and less Deep Roads.

Awh, I dun wanna go to Orlais! /whine
But seriously, I'd much rather see Nevarra (Egypt, anyone?) or the Imperium, or even Rivain. They believe in voodoo over there.

....it feels like we've already discussed this earlier this year, only without Orlais being the country we're in.
Before DA2 came out the boards were full of theories about total war between the Chantry, Qunari, Mages, and Tevinter.
DA2 really did not move that plot ahead at all. It ended where the trailers began.

I'm just hoping that whatever storyline they choose next it will have a fulfilling plot device and progress the action more. Staying still has never been one of my strong suits but I'm so hoping for conflict that you're just biting your nails to know what's next!
