I'm pretty sure that i fought a qunari dude called "Sten", and I remember killing him, looting him, and his body vanishing, only to fight him again several times after, although with no explanation as to how that is. Also, he used sword and sheild, while Sten in DAO used 2h weapons.
Did I end up fighting Sten? And several times, even?

Qunari don't use names, Sten was his rank not his name. I think Zevran and Sten have banter about it DAO.

If Sten from Origins was to appear he'd no doubt get an actual intro with dialog.

Sten is a title like captain or Sarabaas ( mage qunari) or Arvaraad ( the 1 that keeps the leash of a Sarabaas) ...but that is explained in DAO too if you take Sten into the Fade
