Just played thru DA2. I have to give it to the writing team they really put you situations where it's not a wrong or right thing it's more of a weighing of options based on events and trying to pick the option you can live with knowing you will gain enemies either way.I played thru as a mage (seemed more natural) When it came time to decide to whether to leave carver behind for the deeproads i did why: mom begged me to and she already lost one child it was too much to risk. the relic and isabella: i supported her. why: the situation was already out of control no matter what and i knew if Hawke sided against her she would just do something stupid anyway (was hoping i'd get a chance to send the Qunari after Casstion) luckily she came back with the damn thing.btw the resulting honor duel with the arishock was the most running I have ever done in a boss fight. Yes i tried to play peacekeeper as the champion but after anders betrayal and act terrorism the righting was on the wall. he duped and betrayed Hawke so i killed him. I sided with the templars why: as much as I hated meridith Anders had just made it politically impossible in my eyes to side with the mages add to that the fact that Orsino was a weak 1st enchanter (reminded me of harrowmont) and that siding with the mages meant possibly having to kill Carver after having lost Hawke's Mother not that long ago.and that cemented it for me. Funny when Orsino said she would betray me i said to myself yes she will and I'm counting on it!(so glad she did not let me down!).your thoughts...
The champions "DECISION(s)" what choices did you make and why?

Played a mage for my first blind run through.
romanced Sebastian
Spent most of the game siding with the mages, sent Feynriel to the Dalish for training, fought off the templars in Act of Mercy and let Grace and her friends go (boy did that come back to bite me in the ass).
Told Isabella we had to turn the relic over since I thought maybe that would placate the damn Arishok and they wouldn't raze the city and nope she skipped with the book and it was all a big mess after that. On that playthrough if my LadyHawke finds the Pirate Queen, she's gonna murderknife her. Though I couldn't stop laughing when she lit out.
Anders bonehead stunt pissed me off so badly that first playthrough that I murderknifed him and probably its colored all my remaining playthroughs. It was just such a senseless waste and cost so many innocent people in the Chantry and innocent mages who didn't turn to demons in the Circle their lives. And he wants to be a martyr for the 'cause' so I let him.
Sided with the mages more to stop the slaughter than any other reason cause Orsino is such a tool and Meredith makes DAO Cullen look like the poster child for mental health.
An aside: IMO Cullen was one of the best written characters as far as character development goes. He went from a frightened, mage hating, 2 dimensional character in DAO and actually grew/matured over the course of the game to what templars should aspire to be. Contain the mages and protect those who could be in danger from them but don't abuse them. I'd like to think he learned that from Gregoir.
I wonder if he will be the new Knight Commander now that Meredith is dead? Or did the templars rebel at the end too (I thought I heard a line about that)?

@sylvanaerie lmao at the murderknife reference!! Grace yeah that ungratefull wench also embodies just why i sided w/templars true colors show when the pressure is on and if people hate you the LAST thing you should do is prove them right! on Cullen actually his development came full circle if you play as a mage in dao he'll tell you that he has doubts about his role as templar (of course this dialogue is only in the mage origin story) stopping the annulment would have been my reason to side with the mages but my run in's with them had already given me a dim view of them much the same as Morrigan's (fereldan's circle seemed more worth saving) plus the note found at the serial killer blood mage's lair made me think orsino may have been involved (which he later gave a sideways confession to) the thought that maybe he knew what this clown was up to and gave him material to help his cause sickened me. Yes, looks like the templars also rebelled,
