I've been trying to get this to trigger for ages now. Any tips, hints, any points I should be at or shouldn't be at?
Right now he just keeps saying his regular lines like "Your house is pretty" over and over.

Just click him over and over, I think it took me around 30 clicks to get it. The others were always "I want salamanders" "It's very shiny" and so on.
If it helps, I got it during Act 2

I think all the dwarven people were mages once. "Something" happened - it is gone. Sandal is the return of magic - and the Maker.
I find both the young dwarven woman who is a genius in magical theory - and the young dwarven Chantry priest - to both be interesting "tells".
